Weekly Rundown- Best and Worst Edition

Hi there! I’ll warn you right now that there was no running this week! There wasn’t a lot of activity in general, for that matter. But that doesn’t stop me for linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Rundown. In lieu of lots of running and gym photos, I have some awards to give out this week. Let’s get started! Monday Okay, I actually don’t feel THAT bad. I have a normal amount of post-race soreness, but once I get going, I’m okay. The only thing that is not okay are both big toenails- no photos (because I wouldn’t do that to you) but they really hurt. The award for “Best Shoes of the Week” goes to… I even considered wearing them to work, but ultimately decided I wanted more support. But by the end of the workday my toes were throbbing, and crocs came on. Tuesday “Best Post Race Experience”… I got a 90 minute massage. I told the therapist that my whole body was sore, I didn’t want anything deep, just medium pressure all over. I was in HEAVEN. Wednesday Okay, let’s try this cycling thing! I went to the gym and did 30 minutes on the bike. Winner of “Worst Photo of the Week” award goes to… Thursday Okay, time for a walk! I felt pretty good, but once I got going I could feel residual soreness in my quads. And guess who else chimed in- my left hamstring. It was the first time my hamstring hurt since the race! I guess running 50 miles didn’t cure it after all, darn. At night we had my daughter’s jazz band concert! It was outdoors… … and my husband and I had the best seats in the house, right across the street at a Mexican restaurant. We could hear the band perfectly, and enjoyed some adult beverages. Friday Winner of the “Most Disorganized Day” award. My daughter wasn’t going to school. Oh wait- she was. Wait again- she’s going to go late. Oh and also the internet is out. What? What is going on? I ended up with no exercise at all, and guess what- I’m not training for anything so it didn’t matter. Saturday A special shoutout to our next door neighbor- she gets the “Biggest Jerk in the World” award. The internet outage affected several houses, and was traced to a problem in her backyard- BUT SHE WOULDN’T LET AT&T IN TO FIX IT. They had to call the police. The issue is still not fixed (apparently it involves a tree?) Thanks to Starbucks for providing the wifi to make this post possible! In the afternoon, I had a really nice 45 minute walk. Sunday On tap for today- sleeping in. Waffles. In the afternoon- gym with my daughter! Not quite sure what I’ll be doing there, but it won’t be running. I’m not quite ready yet. But… I do have my eye on another race. It took me a few days, but then I was back on Ultra Signup, perusing the possibilities. More details to come! How was your week? Any “best” or “worst” moments?
