Weekend Vibes

Hooray! It’s the weekend! Last weekend was a little nutty around here- my daughter attended the band banquet and then had two friends sleep over. Saturday night my husband and I went out with friends. That may not sound like a lot to some people, but for me, it was a lot of activity. I’m happy to say that this weekend looks uneventful- the way I like it. I work on Saturday mornings, but since there’s no school I can sleep till 7:00. This means I like to stay up later on Friday night. I know the “experts” say you should keep to the same sleep schedule, even on the weekend, but that seems depressing so I don’t do it. I just finished kind of a heavy book (more on that in another post) so tonight I’m going to start this: I finish work at 1:00 on Saturdays, and I always come home and eat lunch while reading the Modern Mrs. Darcy blog posts from the week. Don’t ask me why that’s my Saturday lunch tradition- it just is! Then I’ll take a lovely nap, and later in the afternoon I’ll run. It’s too hot here to run outside in the afternoon (tomorrow it will be 92 degrees- I draw the line!) so I’ll run on the treadmill at the gym. Then- dinner from Chipotle! No cooking, woohoo! Speaking of no cooking, let’s talk about Sunday. Mother’s Day is not my favorite holiday. It’s just not a happy day for a lot of people. I’ll be missing my own mom, and I know people- I can think of three of them right now- who have lost their mothers recently. It will be a tough day for them. But! My husband has volunteered to cook dinner, and I’m not going to turn that down. As a matter of fact I might as well milk the day for all it’s worth, and excuse myself from all tedious chores and errands. Muahahahahaha! Instead, I’ll sleep late (screw you, weekday sleep schedule!), finish my book, and then go shopping. I need to get a graduation present for my daughter’s boyfriend. My husband wanted to give him cash, but I’m sure he’ll already be getting money from his relatives, and I’m afraid he’ll feel obligated to put it in his savings account. I’d rather get him something “fun.” My daughter suggested a Lego set- they love doing Legos together. I’m thinking a Lego, and a gift card to one of his favorite restaurants. This means a trip to the Lego store at the mall, and it’s possible that I’ll find myself in Bath and Body works, because they’re having a candle sale. Heh heh. How do you feel about Mother’s Day? High school graduation gift- cash, or something fun?
