walkers walk… but runners fly

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Happy day to everyone celebrating! I’ll be back tomorrow with a Thanksgiving recap. Here are some scenes from our Wednesday:

We got our Christmas tree! In her post yesterday, Elisabeth said a real tree would cost $40 for them. AHEM. Put a “1” in front of that and add ten dollars, and that’s how much we paid for our 7-8 foot tree.

SOMEONE doesn’t like her picture appearing on my blog.

Here’s how much you would pay for a 13-14 foot tree:

EGADS! Who buys these trees? How do they get them home???

Back at home, I made a charcuterie board!

I used vegan meat and cheese…

…and Muffin got her own plate.

We put the lights and tinsel on the tree…

Ornaments will go on tomorrow.

… and then we made pies (I made the two pumpkin, my husband made the pecan).

One is a sugar-free pie with a buckwheat crust (for me)- yes, I’m also wondering how it will taste! I’ll let you know.

Foxy is being so good- he’s intrigued, but hasn’t wrecked the tree yet!

If you’re celebrating Thanksgiving, I hope your day is filled with gratitude and pie. And if you’re not celebrating, I hope you have an awesome Thursday!

  1. Real trees are so experience!! But those prices are extra bananas. I think it’s probably around $75-100 to get a tree here. I’ve never bought one!

Have the best Thanksgiving with your family!!

    1. Yeah, the prices are insane. I mean we could get a smaller one… but we don’t want to.
Happy Thanksgiving! And I hope your race went well.

  2. Your post gives me the fuzzies!!!! I love everything about it. I gawked at that price, whew… We have an artificial tree and will just stick with that. We used to get a real tree but then T was gifted a fake tree so we will just stick with that.
I want to decorate this long weekend, too. Need to bring the fall Home Depot bins upstairs into the attic and bring the Christmas ones down.

    1. I think if someone gve us a fake tree.. we might just start using it. I would be fine with it- the kids would probably complain though. i just keep thinking “there will be a time where we don’t have everyone home for Christmas- THEN we’ll stop getting a real tree.”

  3. Awww. Love this post.
    First, Happy Thanksgiving.
Second, I can’t get over Angie’s feet – SANDALS while picking out a Christmas tree.
Third. THOSE PRICES. Eeks. But it looks like such a fun family experience.

Enjoy this day. I hope it’s relaxing and delicious and all the happy, festive things <3

  4. Wow I had no idea how expensive real trees are! My family has always had artificial ones and I’m pretty sure the one I got for my apartment (not full size but it’s 6 feet tall and pre-lit) was under $100 when I got it 3 years ago and it will hopefully last several years.

I hope you have an amazing Thanksgiving and can’t wait to read all about it!

    1. Oh, when I was stringing the lights on this tree I was thinking about having a pre-lit tree! THAT’S what I’m doing in the next phase of life.
      Happy Thanksgiving!

  5. Happy thanksgiving Jenny! Those Christmas tree prices are similar to Australia I think! But we’ve had a fake one for a few years now. An expensive fake one from Germany- was worth every penny..
Those pies look yummy. I’ve never tasted American thanksgiving pies (pumpkin, pecan, or key lime) and I really want to! One day. Hope it’s a lovely. Festive day for you and the family!

    1. THank you Sophie! You should make a pumpkin pie sometime- it’s not really that hard. I want to see this expensive tree from Germany!

  6. Oh my, yes, Christmas trees are pricey here… but what isn’t! LOL
So happy you’re all together for the holiday. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your fam!

  7. Cats under Christmas trees are one of my favorite things. Between my very young and newly mobile nephew + the new kitten, my Mom is hesitant about putting up a tree this year so I will take all the Kitty Christmas pics you can post! 😉 hehe

Also: dang. That’s an expensive big tree! No only how do they get that tree home, but where does it go???

  8. I haven’t gotten a real Christmas tree in SO long but I remember it being super expensive when my mom was getting a real tree (she has since been converted to the artificial life). You can’t get a good tree for under $125 around here! I’m very happy to have an artificial, prelit tree because even though I loooooove the smell of a real tree, I cannot handle the process of getting it inside and into the base and constantly watering it and STRINGING THE LIGHTS. My mom and I have had some of our worst fights stringing Christmas lights on a tree, hahaha. But I’m glad you have a tree and it’s SO PRETTTTTTY!
