It was a sprint to the finish!
Christmas Eve was our traditional cookie decorating party. I always make gingerbread cookies and sugar cookies, but the sugar cookies never get eaten. Everyone claims to like them, but I end up throwing a lot of them away. This year, I decided to try a new recipe- the Brown Sugar Cut-out Cookies from Sally’s Baking Addiction.
Everyone liked them! My son described them as “if a gingerbread cookie and regular sugar cookie had a baby.” I also tried something different with these cookies- instead of using a flax egg, I used Just Egg as an egg replacer! I think it worked great.
When I checked the mail, I had four cards- how exciting!
Now, if you sent me a card and haven’t gotten one from me, just remember that there are TWELVE days of Christmas, and this is only the first one. (Ha ha… I only got about half my cards mailed BUT THAT’S OKAY. According to my schedule, there’s still time.)
Then… Santa came!
I threw my imaginary elf hat in the air (like the elves in Polar Express after Santa’s sleigh takes off) and collapsed into bed.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!

Merry Christmas! You made it to the finish! And with so many amazing looking, delicious cookies! I hope tomorrow is filled with all the magic you hold for it in your heart! Hooray! It’s finally here! Merry Christmas!
Thank you Noemi! Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
Those cookies look so good. I’m very impressed with the decoration skills.
You deserve so many gold stars for all you do to make the season so magical for your family. I know it’s a lot of work, but I also can tell it brings you a lot of joy. I truly hope today is WONDERFUL.
As you know I haven’t been able to send/receive Christmas cards this season…so mine will only be going out into the world at the start of the New Year. *Shrug* Maybe I’ll make it a new tradition? Nothing bad seems to have happened even though people haven’t gotten a card from me! And I’m excited to have something bright and cheery to look forward to in the doldrums of winter.
Merry Christmas Elisabeth!!!!! I know how much Christmas means to you as well- I hope you’re having a wonderful day.
My card will definitely get to you WELL after Christmas- but it will brighten up the dark winter days!
I’ve loved getting cards all month long. Since I never really sent mail before this year, this is the first time that I’ve gotten more than 1-2 cards and it’s been fun. The first ones came right after Thanksgiving and there has been a slow and steady inflow ever since.
The only card that I sent in a timely manner was yours with the secret SANta gift. All of my US cards went in the mail this weekend, and I’m holding my Canada cards until after Jan 1 to give the mail system time to catch up.
I’m adding the brown sugar cookies to my list. In theory there is nothing that I love more than a good ol’ frosted sugar cookie, but I feel like there’s something lacking when I make them. This year I made frosted eggnog cookies instead of plain sugar cookies, and those are a winner – at least to me. We’ll see how many get eaten at our Christmas party tonight.
Yes, I can definitely recommend the brown sugar cookies as a nice alternative! I’ve also been enjoying a steady influx of cards. Hopefully people will also enjoy it in the week after Christmas…
Merry Christmas.
I would have eaten those sugar cookies. Lol.
Merry Christmas Darlene!!! If we have any cookies left over I’m going to save them for you till February, ha ha.
Merry Christmas! Those cookies look really good and I’m impressed with the decorating skills. It’s been years since we’ve decorated cookies here but my mom makes these really good vegan shortbread cookies with cherries and chocolate chips that I’ve been enjoying!
Omg that sounds so good- shortbread with cherries and chocolate chips. So many cookies, so little time. Merry Christmas, Ashley!
Merry Christmas– I will have to try those cookies 🙂
Merry Christmas to you and your family, Sarah!!!
The cookies look great! I am glad the new recipe was a hit! That is always nerve wracking for me since GF recipes are just so unpredictable!
We had a great time at the Christmas Eve family party but then I woke up not feeling well. I am hoping it was just a matter of something not agreeing with me or something like that. I still don’t have an appetite though which is annoying. I hope I wake up good as new so we can go to my parents as planned.
Oh, ugh! I hope you feel better soon. My son got sick last night- why does everyone want to get sick on Christmas? Anyway, I hope you’re able to go to your parents as planned. Glad you had fun at the Christmas Eve party!
