walkers walk… but runners fly

A Little Joy

Ohboyohboyohboyohboy!!!!!  The Starbucks holiday cups are out!  It’s one of my favorite days of the season.  We need all the cheer we can get right now.

Speaking of which… last night was our final high school football game of the season, and we WON,  Our team had a perfect season for the first time ever!!!  (The regular season, that is- playoff games start next week!)

I always sit near the band because I love watching them.  Not only do they play (obviously) but they have all sorts of choreographed moves and vocals. They look like they’re having so much fun.

Enthusiastic pep band!

At the end of the game, after the teams congratulated each other, the band was still playing and the football team came over and danced.  After the week we’ve had, it felt good to see everyone so happy and celebrating together.

If you’re reading this on Saturday morning, I’m out running 4.3 mile loops around a trail right now!  Maybe I’ll still be running in the afternoon as well.  I’ll be back on Sunday for a report and the Weekly Rundown.

Happy Saturday!  I hope you find a little joy today.

  1. I saw the UC Berkeley band at a football game ones and it was so cool (one and only football game I went to at cal, me working at Cal and all – a little crazy, right?). Our highschool band is not so motivated – or should I say the band teacher is not so motivated when it comes to marching band? He is very ambitious about the rest though. I hope you have a good weekend. Yes, we can use all the joy we can get these days.

    1. Our high school band director is amazing. When I look back to my own high school band… we were kind of lame. We still had fun though.

  2. Congrats to the football team! An undefeated season is really something!! My school was far too tiny to have a marching band. It’s something I hope my boys participate in! They certainly will NOT be playing football… we have strong feelings about that or at least I do!

I’ve been meaning to tell you thank you for sending us a Halloween card! The boys loved it, too. We just love fun mail in our house.

As I am typing this I hope you are having a great time at your race!

    1. Oh good- glad you got the card.
As much as I love watching football, I wouldn’t want my kids to play (no danger of that- they hate sports.). A couple times this season there have been players down on the field (everyone has eventually gotten up and walked off, phew) and all I can think about is their mother, watching. It really is a dangerous sport, unfortunately.

  3. I hope you are kicking ass right now! And that you are also kicking ass 12 hours from now!

It is raining here, but I am going to try to go out for a short run anyway. I will think of you as I do basically a run the size of ONE of your loops! 🙂

  4. This is so fun! I can’t wait to hear all about the race and I know you love when the Starbucks cups are released. Can you believe I STILL have never had a Starbucks drink. Maybe when I make it down to Florida to visit you, we can have a coffee date over tea at Starbucks?

    1. Okay Elisabeth, sounds good! Come down in January or February- you’ll want to get out of Canada then, and our weather will probably be beautiful.

  5. I haven’t been to Starbucks in awhile, but the holiday cups are definitely a fun, festive treat — I may have to go soon to get one!

Hope you have a fun day at your race and can’t wait to hear all about it!

  6. I hope you’re having fun on your run, Jenny!! It made me think of how I’m happy running around with the doggos–but not for hours!
I’m mad at Starbucks right now, but those cups sure are pretty–I’m glad I get to see them through you without having to buy them 🙂

    1. Oh no. Oh, I think I know why you’re mad at Starbucks. Sigh. Well, you can see the cups in my photos so you won’t have to actually buy anything and support them!

    1. “Perfect” is not the way I would describe it- but it didn’t rain, so there’s that. We’re having very warm weather for November, sigh. But I still had fun.

  7. I was so happy when I walked into Starbucks on Saturday and saw that it was all decked out for Christmas. I AM READY. I even brought my festive cup (I *only* drink hot peppermint mochas out of this cup).

Congrats to your football team! At least you get to enjoy success with the HS team, since the professional one has been such a disappointment lol.

  8. I don’t drink coffee and therefore Starbucks is not a part of my life, but I appreciate the cute holiday themed cups. Is you daughter in the band? I’m gad you enjoy your high school’s game so much. I do enjoy a talented band.
