A quick and easy 3.14 run to kick off Pi Week!
In the absence of races, it’s fun to make up our own little challenges, right? My second run of the week was supposed to be a “double Pi'” run and…
I had ONE JOB on this run, and that was to stop my watch at 6.28! Sheesh!!! Oh well… it was a fun run. I guess that’s why I forgot to stop.
Let’s talk about PIE. Here are some pie moments from our house this past year:
There was Thanksgiving, where we had three pies for the four of us. We like pie.
Then there was this beauty from the 4th of July! I’m clearly not an expert pie baker, but this came out really well- we used this recipe.
But we don’t only eat dessert. One of our favorite meals is deep dish pizzas, recipe from the same website.
By the way, I make all my food vegan! Let me know if you have any questions about how to vegan-ize a recipe. Also, I don’t eat sugar. That’s the real reason for two pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving- one of them has no sugar. (The rest of the family doesn’t follow this particular restriction, or as they would call it, craziness.)
So what’s up for Sunday? The family has requested an apple pie, and I’ll make a pie with no sugar for myself… still have to do some research on that one. And we’ll have our deep dish pizza (pies.)
More fun Pi runs coming up this week! Anyone celebrating Pi Day, or do you not care? What’s your favorite pie?

And now you totally have me craving some Pie! Fun challenge for the week!
Ha ha… maybe you should give in to that craving on Sunday!
Yay pie! My stepsons are obsessed with apple pie right now so I’ve been making it a bit more often (“often” is 3-4 times a year instead of less than once a year). Overshooting your double pie run just means that you got a little extra pi;-)
Ha ha, I think it means I get a little extra PIE, if you know what I mean!
Great job with the pie runs and the pie pies! That 4th of July one is a beauty! Good for you for keeping sugar out of your diet. It truly is my nemesis.
Those are gorgeous deep dish pies as well!
Sugar was such a nemesis for me that I had to cut it out of my diet entirely- I just couldn’t keep it under control. I call myself a recovering sugar-holic!
Well, Pi Day is my birthday, so I have been Pi-running every day this week 🙂 I’m normally not a Garmin OCD runner, but I throw that notion out the window for these 3.14-mile excursions:-) Oh, those pies look heavenly!
I’m glad you’re enjoying your birthday/Pi Week! I know- any other time I wouldn’t care about that extra .05 miles!
Well done on the Pi runs! It just reminded me of Kim from Running on the Fly – but I see she has just told you of her Pi runs.
Great pies too! You are right – fruit has enough natural sugar without adding anything more. And I guess pumpkin has nearly no fructose – a great idea!
Yes, I know Kim is doing her Pi week challenge- so fun!
Can I come to your house? Pie is my favorite dessert.
Warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream.
Key lime but only in Fla.
So I will try to remember to buy one on Sat.
Ha ha… you get a key lime pie and then we’ll compare our pi days!
I love the idea of a Pi Day run! I’ve got a short recovery run on the schedule for Sunday, so I think I’ll make it a 3.14 mile run!! And those deep-dish pizzas look so good!!! So glad I found your blog! Running and vegan food are my two favorite things!
3.14 is perfect for a recovery run! Yes, the deep dish pizzas are time-consuming, but so worth it.
Mmmm…pie! Actually, I don’t eat sugar either. Except on the very few occasions I decide to throw caution to the winds and indulge. This happens maybe twice a year. Your 4th of July pie looks beautiful!
Thank you! I was proud of that pie. If I threw caution to the winds and indulged in sugar every once in a while, bad things would happen. I’ve proved to myself that I just can’t handle it.
All those pies look delicious. I also make vegan pies though I don’t worry about the sugar. And I don’t make pies very often.
I never seem to turn off my Garmin on time. I’m planning a Pi run for tomorrow and I’m pretty sure it will end up being 3.15!
Ha ha, I’ll be interested to find out how your pi run comes out!
