Oh, hello! Welcome to the Weekly Rundown. Every Sunday I link up with my virtual workout buddies, Kim and Deborah, to talk about our workouts for the week. And, I’m doing NaBloPoMo with San and an incredible group of bloggers- 30 blog posts in 30 days- we’re doing it! Here’s how the week played out for me…
Monday
I started the week with a lovely 4 mile run. So many good things about this run- instead of running entirely in the dark, I started in the dark but the sun rose as I was running. Don’t be telling me we shouldn’t turn the clocks back! I won’t listen.
It was 60 degrees for this run, and the humidity was “low” (I mean, low for Florida.) It felt amazing.
Tuesday
Leg day at the gym! Sled pushes and pulls, squats, deadlifts, tibialis raises, calf raises, and side planks with leg lifts.
Wednesday
I don’t work on Wednesdays, and I like to do a long run on this day… usually. This week I moved it to Sunday. Instead I took my run to the beach! I didn’t actually run on the sand, but on the road that goes along the ocean. After 4 miles (with some fartleks thrown in) I got in the water- oh yes, this is why we live in Florida!
Thursday
Strength day at home. Runner’s Touch, squats, Bulgarian split squats, overhead press with dumbbells, and negatives on the pull up bar. In spite of my fantasies about “No Core November” I’ve also been doing some core every day- planks, dead bugs, crunches on my stability ball… the usual.
Friday
Another 4 mile run. Same deal as Monday- I started in the dark and ended in daylight.
Saturday
Off! I was able to sleep in until 7:00, then I got up and had a leisurely breakfast before work. After work, I relaxed on the couch with football and blog reading. A really nice day. Except… (cue the ominous music) a heavy blanket of humidity has returned to South Florida, and I hate it. Mainly because…
Sunday
On tap- 18 mile long run. I’m kind of bummed because running has felt SO GOOD, and now I have to deal with the heat and humidity again. Oh well. I’ll be bringing lots of ice!
How was your week? Do you like humidity? –Hahahaha… that was a trick question. No one does.

Wait what’s a dead bug? 18 mile run? That’s not a run, it’s torture. It is supposed to get into the mid 50s tomorrow afternoon, so I’m planning to wait to run in the afternoon. When I wake up and it is in the 30’s or 20’s, I skip the run. I did an intense workout video in my home this morning since it was too cold to run. I’m betting I’m gonna be sore tomorrow.
Ha ha, yes and intense workout video will make you sore! Funny, because here you’d want to run first thing in the morning to avoid the heat. Mid 50s sounds like AMAZING running weather! I’ll link to dead bugs next time.
I love when running in the dark and finish in the daylight. it’s like we are raising with the world. I am dealing with a lot of pollution so mostly running on treadmill, not so fun but my mileage is low now.
Ugh. But, the treadmill has some advantages. You can control the pace and the incline, and get some good listening/watching in while yourun!
I’m enjoying seeing the sunrise on my early morning Friday run! It’s nice to have light. We’ve had some really nice temperatures too, so yes, this is why fall is my favorite.
Nice work in the gym! And good luck today on that long run.
Thank you Wendy! The run turned out great in spite of the heat.
Yes, fall weather like you’ve been having is ideal running weather.
Hope the weather is less humid today.
Lol. No one likes humidity.
I need to ignore the cold and run early.
We’ll see if that happens.
Oh, it was humid! But there were some clouds that helped.
I think it would be VERY hard to get up in the cold and dark and go for a run. i don’t envy you winter runners!
Haha to your trick question. Humidity is The Worst. I would rather have below zero cold than humidity. It makes me feel thick and heavy and half melted, like a stick of softened butter. I hope your run today is better than expected!
Ha ha, that’s quite a description! My run actually did turn out better than expected, hooray.
Eek! I hated it so much when the weather was GREAT during the week, you know when I was working, and then turned hot (or cold with ice) on the weekends just in time to mess with my long run. Sigh. Good luck on your HOT 18!
Thank you Beckett! Yes, I’m missing our cooler and dryer weather- please send some cold air our way!
What a bummer that the humidity returned just in time for your long run – I hope your run went well even so. LOL on asking if we like humidity!
Yes, it was bad timing! If I had run on Wednesday I would have had better conditions. But this run turned out well in spite of it all!
You look so ripped and toned in that beach photo! All your upper body work is paying off!
I don’t like humidity. My husband actually kind of likes humidity! He struggles with eczema so it feels good on his skin. I will say the exception to my dislike of humidity is when we are on vacation. Like when we landed in Mexico last December, the warm humid air felt SO GOOD!
I used to like the humidity- it actually made my hair look better (more full and wavy.) Now I don’t give a crap what my hair looks like, I just want to be comfortable!
I will admit that humidity is probably better for skin, though.
Nothing better than a run with beach views! Hope you long run went well today. Do you ever get used to that humidity?! You know how some professional athletes train at altitude and then race at sea levers? You could train in horrible humidity and heat and then come up north to race!! 🙂
That would work EXCEPT that you guys have hills up there! If I could come run a flat, cool, non-humid race I would be able to nail it.
I love diving in the ocean after a run at the beach—as long as I remember to take my glasses off!
I hope the humidity doesn’t suck too much today. I forget — have you done ice baths? That would feel great after a long, humid run. 🙂
No, I’ve never done ice baths! But it will definitely be something to consider later on when I do back-to-back long runs- an ice bath after the first day might help a lot.
Hope that 18-miler went well (well, you know, as well as can be expected or hoped for, LOL). While I don’t love the humidity, I can tolerate it. Of course, Iowa’s humidity is nothing in comparison to Florida’s. Most of my early morning runs are in complete darkness, other than for a few months in late spring thru very early fall. Definitely not ideal, but that’s my reality….another reason why I LOVE summer so much 😉
I used to tolerate the humidity much better than I can now. And I think humidity in the midwest can be pretty intense as well!
I actually do know people who like humidity & I don’t understand them. I hope the run today went fantastic!
It has been far too long since I’ve been to the ocean (even if it was just a couple of years ago, when it was still cool, LOL!).
Other than the return of humidity, it sounds like a great week for you, Jenny!
Hmmm… these people who like humidity, are they runners? I probably wouldn’t mind too much if I didn’t have to run in it.
The beach!! I love it when people go to the beach, even though I am so jealous.
Ah, you like to live vicariously. How far are you from Lake Michigan?
Oh my godddd I just realized that I accidentally deleted you from my Feedly when I did a reorganize/purge a few weeks ago!!! I think I tried to move you from one category to another and somehow you disappeared?!? I have been thinking, oh, hmm how odd Jenny hasn’t been posting; she must not be doing NaBloPoMo and must have decided to not post right now and just focus on reading others or something?! 😅 (bc I wasn’t seeing any posts from you in Feedly.) DUH that’s because I deleted you! On the plus side, I now have a fun backlog of your posts to enjoy!!!
Okay Kae, you’re in BIG TROUBLE! Just kidding. NaBloPoMo has been so crazy I didn’t even notice you weren’t commenting on my posts.
What a great run on the beach. Love it (though I’m crying a bit inside since we had flurries again yesterday).
Also “Another “amazing” gym selfie.” Um, that caption. Jenny. OWN THIS. You are at the gym. And you are strong and do incredible things. I don’t go to the gym and could barely run 1 km these days. So please, please, please don’t sell yourself short. You are strong and powerful and the pictures show that. Go you <3
Aw… thanks Elisabeth!!!
Great workouts this week! I hope your 18 miler went well. 60 degrees sounds great for Ohio running weather too. What a great plus to be able to jump into the ocean when it’s hot out. Running in the sand is tough for me, but I would appreciate cooling down in the water!
I wish it could just be 60 year round (although I guess a lot of people wish the same thing.) Jumping in the ocean is definitely a pleasure!
I am impressed you get photos at the gym at all.. I was always self-conscious about taking pictures at the gym. Much easier at home where nobody sees me LOL
Also, I am enjoying the lighter mornings… I know it won’t last long.
I love that you got to put your feet into the ocean. Yay! I’ll be back at the ocean this coming weekend and I can’t wait.
I love humidity because I feel warm.
I dislike humidity because… my hair. Ugh.
You, however, are rocking it, regardless of the weather. Go, you.
Nice job! I meant to do 30 days of blog posts, but …. it’s not working out so well. I tried.
It was super humid and warm here last week as well. Then, it turned on Saturday and just went downhill fast. I don’t mind the winter feel, though.
Our beach is so eroded I haven’t gone down there much. I really want to. Maybe when we get back from Thanksgiving.
I. very much hate humidity. So doing sports in humidity I can not fathom it.
I have question. How do you get this pictures of you running? They look so candid.
