walkers walk… but runners fly

Weekly Rundown- The Short Version

Hey there! I’m keeping this rundown short because I’m exhausted… due to this little girl!

She was found outside and we’re keeping her until she’s big enough to go to a new home (or, possibly keeping her forever if we can convince my husband… heh heh…) She’s only about five weeks old! We’re taking her to the vet next week so we’ll find out more information (she’s so tiny we’re not even positive she’s a girl… but we think she is).

Hee hee! You can see Foxy sticking his paw under the door.He really wants to play with her.

This week was great, with lots of runs and trips to the gym.

On Friday I spent the day in Miami and ran in a park along the water…

My calf has been feeling fine! Today (Sunday) I have a 20+ mile run planned. Again, feel free to send thoughts and prayers… after some nice cool weather, it’s forecast to be 83 degrees today!

I’ll be back next week with a PROPER rundown. Thanks as always to Kim and Deborah for hosting!

  1. Oh WOW Jenny! I thought you had been so inspired by Elsa that you got yourself a kitten!! And.. maybe you did! She’s gorgeous. I hope you can keep her?
Glad to hear you had a happy running and training week with happy calves! My fitness week was non-existing because of severe sniffling and all the eew that comes with it.

    1. I’ll definitely be keeping her for a while! Maybe forever- possibly.
Well, it’s the season- everyone seems to be getting sick. I hope you feel better soon!

  2. Awww. Jenny! She is adorable. I hope you convince your husband 😉
Great news on the calf front and I hope today’s long run is amazing. It’s -25C here (about -15F, I think?) so ENJOY YOUR TANK TOP AND sHORTS while I am slowly freezing to death. Remember this is why you moved to Florida, Jenny. I know you have miserable weather plenty of the time, too, in the form of heat (and hurricanes) but you do not have to do winter and for that I am jealous!

    1. Yes, I’m definitely reminded of that while reading everyone’s posts today! As much as I complain about the heat, I don’t want a polar vortex either.

  3. Oh, oh,oh, she’s so precious! I hope you can keep her. She’d have so much fun with Foxy!
I’ll send good thoughts for your run while I shovel snow today.

  4. She so cute!! She reminds me of the cat I had in high school that was gray. He was a boy, though. I think you will love his name – Allegro! He had so much energy so that musical term was perfect for him!

I am so glad your calf hasn’t been bothering you! Phew!!

    1. I do love that name!!! We haven’t named this one yet- first I have to take her to the vet and just make sure she’s a girl, ha.

  5. Little cat, short post! Based on my experience growing up in a three person household with three cats, one cat per person is the correct ratio. Let me know if your husband needs any other reasons to keep the cute gray kitty. Whatever the decision, I’m glad that she found you guys and that she’s safe.

I’m sending prayers to the Calf Gods for a good service at the Church of the Long Run today. Soak up every degree of the warmth and every ray of that sunshine! The storm is underway up here. The crazy part is that we’re north of it so we’re not going to get as much snow as places south of us. More snow to the south is never a good thing, since they don’t have the resources to handle it.

    1. It’s so hard to comprehend that so many people got hit with a huge winter storm today!!! It was so hot here. But my calf held up for my run, so I appreciated that.
I’ll let my husband know about the cats=people rule. Sounds right to me!

    1. Yes, after reading everyone’s posts I think we do have the best weather! A little cooler would have been nice… but I really can’t complain!

  6. Wow look at that weather! I don’t remember what blue skies and grass look like LOL. It’s been so cold and snowy. It is the time of year that I think we’re all jealous of you. What a cute kitten!

  7. Your weather sounds absolutely dreamy to me! I am so not a kitty gal (terrible allergies), but your little gray friend is so cute! I’m glad she found you and you’re able to give her the love, attention and care she needs. Good luck on that 20-miler! May all the stars, moons and planets be properly aligned 😉

  8. Awwww, I secretly hope you can keep her! What a cute kitten!

83 degrees is so warm. On race day last week, it was in the upper 70s and I had to put ice in my bandana at a couple aid stations midday to stay cool, it was about 10 degrees warmer than average for this time of year. Today it’s only gonna be in the 50s which is cold but considering how cold it is in the rest of the country (minus Florida!) I can’t really complain! I hope your run went well and you stayed cool!

    1. Thank you Ashley! I got pretty hot on this run, but I finished it- 23 miles the hard way.
I’m also secretly hoping we can keep the kitten- but my daughter’s boyfriend also wants her and if his dad says yes, we’ll give her to him.

    1. We haven’t named her- partly because I need to get her to the vet and make sure she’s a girl!!!
      I survived the run : )

  9. SO CUTE!! We got a little grey kitten just like that when I was kid (for about a day until we realized my sister was horribly allergic and we had to return him!). 😭 We’d named him Cinder, like cinder blocks I guess? Haha. I hope you can keep her!

    1. Oh, that must have been so sad!!! My daughter’s best friend is allergic, and it’s terrible because she loves cats. Every time she comes to our house she’s sniffling and sneezing.

  10. Awwww!! I’m so glad you helped her (or him!) out! I do believe you can come up with a very convincing appeal to keep her. How can you say No to that cute face!??
I hope that 20 miler went well for you! Cruel of the weather to get warmer on your long run day.

    1. I know- if my husband says no he’s obviously a monster : )
I finished the run, but it was definitely 23 miles the hard way.

  11. I love kittens. She’s so cute.

I bet you know our weather. It’s been all over the news.

My week was a blur of Kleenex and coughing. Boo.

    1. Yes and your wether has been all over the blog posts! Just about everyone is experiencing a winter storm.
She us the cutest kitty ever- so tiny!!!

  12. This is the CDS (cat distribution system) at work. It’s obvious that you should keep this little fluffbomb. Foxy obviously needs a friend!

  13. I’m Team Kitten over here! What a cutie! How can your hubs say no to that face? ;P

Good luck with your long run today! Not sure what’s worse–running in the bitter cold or heat and humidity! I took some photos of myself log jumping, and they were humorous–my range of motion was clearly limited by my snow pants!

    1. Ha- no snow pants here! During my run today I was cursing the heat, but I know I wouldn’t do well in your cold weather either.

  14. Look at that sweet little baby! I could not think of a more proper rundown if I tried!

So glad your calf is feeling better! That’s definitely a step in the right direction!

Miami does have some gorgeous views <3

  15. New kitten omggggggggg! The cat distribution system clearly recognized that you all need an extra dose of kitten related joy. Do your blog readers get a vote about whether you keep her? I think we should and I vote KEEP.
