Weekly Rundown- Back on Track

After a less-than-stellar last week, this week I got back on track (although not back on THE track, as the top photo might suggest). My plan was four runs and four Iron Series workouts, and I did it! I wish I had done a little more yoga… but we’ll get to that. Thanks as always to Kim and Deborah for hosting the Weekly Rundown. Here we go… Sunday After a missed workout on Saturday due to oversleeping (sigh), I did that workout first thing Sunday morning, Iron Series Day #14, full body workout. I had already done Day #15 earlier in the week, so now I’m all set to continue on with Day #16. I know- it’s confusing. Monday In the morning I did Adriene’s yoga for lower back pain. In the afternoon, I ran 4 miles. This might have been my last afternoon run outside until next winter- the only reason I was able to do it in the heat is that it was overcast. Tuesday In the morning I did Iron Series Day #16, hamstrings. Then, because I knew Wednesday was going to be a crazy day, I got out for a run later in the afternoon. Okay, THIS was my last afternoon run outside until winter. Wednesday Today was special! I had a mammogram, breast ultrasound, bone density scan, and then took Sylvie to the vet for her last round of shots. In the morning I did yoga for low back pain again, and later in the day I did Iron Series Day #17, which was upper body. Thursday Just to switch things up, I started the day with Adriene’s yoga for lower back mobility. Then later in the day, I went to the gym and ran 4 miles on the treadmill, throwing in a little speed work. Friday Iron Series Day #18 is a special one! It’s a glute workout with a million lunges and hip thrusts. Here’s a question- shouldn’t a one leg hip thrust be twice as hard as with two legs? Why does it feel ten times harder??? My legs were literally shaking after this workout. Saturday 4 mile treadmill run! And I followed it with core. I know core is involved in the Iron Series workouts I’ve been doing, but I’m starting to miss the core-only workouts. While doing some leg lifts I could feel my left hip flexor. Something feels tight there, and I think it’s traveling down my leg and making that left knee tight. I need to do more yoga! Sunday Happy Mother’s Day! I’ve mentioned that I’m not a big fan of this holiday, as it’s not a happy day for everyone. But, my husband has volunteered to cook dinner, and I’m going to tell my daughter she isn’t allowed to yell at me. So it should be a good day! At some point I’ll do the next Iron Series workout, Day #19, which is full body. How was your week? Are you celebrating Mother’s Day? Top photo by Lysander Yuen on Unsplash
