It’s Friday!!!

Even though I work Saturdays, I still feel that happy Friday vibe. And this is the last Friday of the school year! Next week is exams, and then my daughter’s junior year will be done. Summer is our worst season, weather-wise. By August I’ll be angrily ranting and raving about the heat (and hurricane threats- it’s either horribly hot or storming down here). But right now I’m feeling optimistic about the increasing daylight and relaxed schedule, so let’s talk about some late-May Happy Things! It’s been way too long since I’ve shared a cat photo (at least several days, and that’s just wrong!) These two have been getting along really well: They don’t snuggle and play like Foxy and Sylvie do, but they coexist peacefully. Sometimes I almost feel like Foxy is left out- or rather, he suffers from middle-child syndrome. Muffin and Sylvie somehow demand more attention, and I have to remember to give Foxy lots of love. I make sure to reassure him that he’s my favorite boy (which I can say in all honesty, since he’s the only boy.) SHU recommended this book on her blog, and went so far as to text it to me because she was sure I would like it. I ran right out to get it from the library. When I read the inside flap I hesitated… is this going to be kind of boring??? It’s about an “enigmatic librarian” who provides the perfect book for each library patron, helping them fulfill their dreams. Hmmm. Well- Sarah really liked it so I gave it a try. I couldn’t stop reading it! I’m about halfway through and I don’t want to put it down. I have a feeling this book will be like The Correspondent, where I thought “I don’t want to read a book about an elderly woman writing letters!” and then I loved it. I will report back SOON when I’ve finished it. Last Saturday was so nice, I’m going to try to replicate it. Work in the morning, a nap in the afternoon and then intense session at the gym (late afternoon on Saturday when it’s pretty empty). THEN, takeout from Chipotle. What I didn’t mention last week is that I will also be enjoying a Coke Zero with this meal. MUAHAHAHAHAHA! This week, Kae wrote about her ongoing battle with soda (she has given it up again and is doing great!) I confessed in the comment section that I’ve become more and more addicted to Coke Zero. I have one a week, a big fountain drink when I get my takeout- and the really bad thing is, I look forward to it immensely and get sad when I’ve finished it. This doesn’t seem good- I think I’m going to need an intervention soon. But, as Birchie would say, today is not that day, and right now I’m thrilled with the thought that Coke Zero is only a day away. Do you have a “middle pet?”  What are you looking forward to this weekend? Top photo by Sincerely Media on Unsplash
