Weekly Rundown- Summer Schedule

Hey there! I had a good week of full-on summer vibes. This meant sleeping a little later some days, and also getting out for some morning runs. I finished Caroline Girvan’sĀ Iron Series, and am now going back to certain workouts I want to try again. I had a small glitch, but that’s par for the course at this point. All is well! Here’s how the week played out… Sunday Today was the day! I went to the gym and completed the last workout in the Iron Series. Because I switched two days around, I finished with Day #29, which was a full body workout. I did this one in the gym and enjoyed it. ALSO, I had a long walk (hour and 20 minutes) and phone call with a friend, I’m enjoying these walk and talks! I’ve been friends with this woman since our sons were in preschool together, which means this boy is Paul’s oldest friend . They live in Tampa now, but are coming to Indiana for Paul’s wedding in July! We’re excited, and touched that they’re willing to make the trip. Monday 4 mile run to start the day! Later on I did Adriene’s yoga for lower back pain. Tuesday I originally planned to do a trail run this week, but- it’s a long story- ended up on the treadmill, which is the polar opposite. That’s okay! I ran 5 miles and incorporated some hills, which made it a nice workout. Later in the day I did Adriene’s yoga for psoas. As I was coming out of a low lunge, I felt a strange and ominous twinge in my right hamstring. HMMM. Wednesday I still felt a weird ache in that hamstring, so scrapped the workout I had planned for the day, which was all lunges and step ups. Instead I went to the gym and did Iron Series Day #22, upper body. I added in some core work and a walk on the treadmill. Thursday I was disappointed that I didn’t feel sore from the workout I did yesterday. I lifted heavy (for me) weights and worked to failure several times. I felt like I didn’t get proper credit for that effort, somehow! 4 mile run… … and later in the day, yoga for low back pain. Friday Okay, I think my hamstring is better! I did Iron Series Day #21, which is lunges and step ups. Everything felt good, and this was a challenging workout for me. Saturday 4 mile run to start the day! Then, I worked a long day. With my new summer schedule I work all day on Saturdays- it was a good day, but my low back is asking for some love, and I know just where to get it. Sunday On tap for today- definitely an Iron Series workout! If my legs are recovered from the step ups, I’ll do lower body. Otherwise I have several upper body workouts to choose from. How was your week? Are you enjoying the long summer days?
