Weekly Rundown- Surviving the Heat

Hey there! I’m writing this post while listening to fireworks all around. The cats are scared (Muffin, hiding under the bed) and worried (Sylvie and Foxy). It’s Sylvie’s first fireworks! How exciting for her. As usual, I’m linking up with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Rundown (thanks, ladies!) Here’s how the week played out… Sunday I did a strength workout at home of lower body (lunges, banded side steps, step ups) and shoulders. Later in the day I walked for 40 minutes. Monday 4 mile run in the morning! Tuesday Ooh, this was hard. I had an appointment mid-morning, so instead of going to my normal trail I ran on a cross country trail in a nearby park. There was very little shade (see top photo) and it was HOT. I really struggled in the second half but finished 10 miles. As usual I was glad I did it! Wednesday Leg day at the gym! Last time I did heavy squats and deadlifts, my low back was NOT happy. I paid extra attention to my form this time, and it seemed better. Later in the day I walked for an hour while I talked to my son about ALL THINGS WEDDING! It’s three weeks away! Thursday I was still traumatized from the heat on that 10 mile run, so I took this run to the treadmill. 4 miles with some speedwork thrown in. Later in the day- hip mobility exercises. Friday I had an insane work day. Since we were closed on Saturday for the holiday, they asked if I wanted to work Sunday instead. Well actually- no, I DON’T want to work Sunday. Instead I added hours to this day, and worked a ten hour shift. In light of that, I didn’t do any other exercise (although- foreshadowing!- I wish I had done yoga when I got home). Saturday Happy 4th! I slept late, and then went to the gym for a 5 mile run on the treadmill. My legs felt good, but my low back was cranky. I blame the long work day. Later in the day- Adriene’s yoga for runners, and a shoulder workout. We ended up doing nothing to celebrate, because my husband has a man-cold. Ahem. He thinks he might be dying, but I’m pretty sure he’ll be A-OK! He slept a lot, while I did my own thing- reading and napping. We ended up getting pizza for dinner from Mod with vegan cheese. I haven’t had pizza in a long time! It was yummy. Sunday On tap for today- lower body strength workout, and a walk. I’m trying to walk on the days I don’t run- this week I succeeded, other than Friday where I gave myself a pass. How was your week? Did you celebrate the 4th?
