Weekly Rundown- Back At It

Helloooo! Welcome to the Weekly Rundown, hosted as always by Kim and Deborah (thanks, ladies!) I had some good workouts this week, but my lower back woes continue. Here’s how it all played out… Sunday 4 mile run! This run was apparently uneventful, because I can’t remember anything about it. Monday Labor Day! I had to work, but there was no school so I could sleep later. I did my hip stability exercises, and after work went for a 45 minute walk. Tuesday Today was, ahem, a senior skip day, so my daughter did not go to school. The good thing about that was, I could get out for my run earlier so I went to my favorite (but slightly farther away) trail. 10 miles, and the earlier start plus some cloud cover made it slightly easier than usual. At night- Adriene’s yoga for lower back pain. Wednesday Oof. This morning I discovered a nail in my tire. LUCKILY, my daughter’s boyfriend was able to patch it! But by the time he got done, it was getting hot and I lost my motivation to run outside. I went to the gym and ran 4 miles on the treadmill. THEN… Since I was there I did leg press! My low back is not feeling good, so leg press is replacing back squats for now. At night… yoga for lower back pain again. Thursday I did an upper body strength workout at home, and in the middle of it I realized my low back feels TERRIBLE! Hey, you know what I haven’t done in a while- dead bugs!!! I pulled up Caroline Girvan’s deadbug workout. That should fix my back. At night, we had a high school football game. We won against a very competitive team, and also got a beautiful sunset. Friday This might be a shocking surprise, but sitting in the bleachers did not help my back one bit! In the morning I did my hip stability exercises, and after work ran 5 miles. Yes- it was extremely hot, but I brought water in my hydration vest. At night- Adriene’s yoga for runners. My back feels like crap. Saturday My daughter was re-taking her SATs, and I had to drop her off before work, so I didn’t do any workouts. The truth is, my back is having an extra-special deluxe episode. The pain is somehow going up into my mid back and down into my glutes simultaneously. Weirdly, I can run and walk, but any kind of weight lifting aggravates it. I need a trip to the chiropractor! Sunday On tap… running, yoga, ice, Advil. And football! First Dolphins game of the season! All will be well. How was your week? Do you ever go to a chiropractor for adjustments?- I do, when my back gets really bad.
