Christmas Mugs AND Secret Santa Gift!!!

Here we are on Day 27 of NaBloPoMo!  Thanksgiving is over, and the Christmas decorations are out!  I’m doing Part 2 of my mug tour, because the Christmas mugs needed their own post.  But before we get started…

Imagine my excitement when a mysterious package arrived for me last week!  It turned out to be TWO incredible mugs from my Secret Santa, aka Erin (IG @erinollila.)  She totally nailed it.  Here’s the first mug:

It’s a RUNNING CHRISTMAS TREE!  Nothing could be more perfect than that, right?  But here’s the second mug:

I love it so, so much- its a Baylor Mom mug.  What I love most about it is, after Christmas is all over, all the pretty mugs are put away, and I’m missing my son because he’s back at school, I can pull out this mug.   I usually hate drinking out of my “normal” mugs again after the holidays, but this time I’ll be looking forward to it.  THANK YOU ERIN!  And thank you to San for organizing  #SecretSantaMugSwap2021 .

Moving right along!  Here’s a couple of my pretty Christmas mugs…

From Pier 1, many many years ago.

This one’s from William Sonoma.

I love those mugs, but sometimes I’m in the mood for a big, chunky mug, so I’m also loving this one:

Also from Pier 1, a couple years ago.

Here’s a mug I pull out every year but rarely drink out of.  It’s pretty, but it’s kind of a weird shape- taller and skinny.  I’m giving it one more Christmas, and if I don’t drink out of it, I’m donating it!  I need the cabinet space.

You’re on probation, skinny mug!

Now- it never snows in South Florida.  But we have some “chilly” nights where it gets down to the 50s.  On those mornings I take out this mug:

Brrr…

The “Let it Snow” mug has the dubious honor of being the one that burned my hand horribly.  On the bottom is says it’s not microwave safe, but last year I ignored that and used it to microwave my tea.   When I reached in to take it out, the handle was so hot it burned my hand.  I mean, really burned it.  People were asking me what happened to my hand- that’s how bad it looked (and felt.). So, if something is not microwave safe, they really mean it!  Don’t do what I did.

Here’s one more mug!  Last year one of my coworkers gave me a Starbucks gift card.  Instead of using it for the same old tea I get all the time, I used it for this travel mug- something I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

Can’t wait to bring my tea to work in this!

There you have it!  You can see why I get sad when January rolls around and I have to put these away!  Luckily this time I’ll have my Baylor Mom mug to cheer me up.  Now, since I’m a mug fanatic, I have a few questions:

Do you like to drink out of special mugs for holidays?

If so, how many holiday mugs is too many?- I can’t help myself- I’m always on the lookout for more mugs.

Which of my mugs is your favorite?  Should I get rid of the skinny one?

  1. I LOVE looking at your mug collection…. well, first of all, Erin really nailed it with the two mugs that she sent for the mug swap. I love the “running Christmas tree” (how fitting) and the thoughtful mug to remind you of your son when he’s away at College.

Your other Christmas mugs are all very pretty too – but I’d probably get rid of the ones that you don’t enjoy drinking out of. I have a tall, skinny mug like that and it’s pretty, but I hardly ever use it as I just don’t enjoy the “feel” in my hand.
I definitely need to get rid of some of the mugs that always get picked last…. especially as I am always on the hunt for new ones (can’t help it!).

    1. Yes, you’re right San. A mug has to feel good in my hand. If I get rid of that skinny one I’ll have room for a new one!

  2. I have so many mugs and I got rid of many. Maybe not rid. They’re in a box.

    I love the running one.

And yes I drink out of my Christmas mug. Oh I need a Hanukkah one!

  3. I only have ONE Christmas mug, but I love getting it out. I found it at a thrift store years ago and it’s so cheery.

I especially like your Let it Snow mug since (based on your post earlier this week), “Let it Snow” is my holiday theme.

I am not a fan of tall skinny mugs, so I would definitely move that along to another home so you have more space for your growing mug collection!

    1. That’s funny, because one Christmas mug is really all you need. Not sure why I keep wanting more! I did think of you with the “Let it Snow” mug.

  4. Those mugs were such thoughtful choices! Way to go, Erin!
I drink from the same mug 365 days a year. It’s the right size. It fits my hand perfectly. I’ve never been really gotten on board with seasonal dishware, but you may be changing my mind!

    1. Wait, is that the Harry Potter mug I saw on your blog? I actually tried to find one like it but had no luck. I can see why you would drink out of it every day.

  5. I only have one Christmas mug and now I think I need to start buy at least one this year to start building a Christmas mug collection! That’s a fantastic idea. 🙂 Although, I’m still usually drinking iced coffee well into December haha. Florida probz.
