Hmm! My Sunday had some ups and down, but overall I enjoyed turning the clocks back. I was up late Saturday night, and slept in until 9 am on Sunday… oh wait, it was only 8:00 am new time!
I got up and made waffles- “normal” waffles for the family, and buckwheat waffles for myself. My Crazy Pumpkin Lady mug suddenly looked so drab and brown- I almost reached for a Christmas mug, but then reminded myself that this weekend should be fall-ish, so I took out my “Thanksgiving” mug.

What’s that in my mug, you ask? Black tea, pumpkin spice creamer, and my oatmilk whipped topping. Yum.
Then, I had an important job, which was to help my daughter bleach her hair. Specifically, we had to bleach the roots because she’s going for a whole new color.
Now, if you were bleaching my roots, or even my whole head of hair, it would take about ten minutes. But Angie has thick, curly hair, and it took FOREVER. Somewhere during the process I started to feel vaguely unwell. We had the window open to help with the fumes, but it was just letting in warm, muggy air. Ugh.
Finally we were done, and I felt extremely nauseous. I thought about going for a walk, but it was raining. I finally lay down on the couch and fell asleep. I opened my eyes about 45 minutes later to find- GAH- Muffin right next to my head, staring at me. Don’t worry Muffin, I’m okay! Well, more or less.
I felt better but still not great, but I rallied to make a fallback snack board:

The thing in the middle is “chick cheese”, a dip made from chick peas (kind of like hummus, but cheesier). Also pictured are the Trader Joe’s fall leaf chips. This was fun to eat- our big complaint was that the orange peppers somehow managed to have NO TASTE. My husband described them as “crunchy water.”
Then we had our second snafu of the day. My daughter made herself lunch, and forgot to turn to burner off on the stove. Then her boyfriend put a plastic container down on it, because how was he to know the burner was hot? For the second time that day, noxious fumes (this time from burning plastic) filled the room. Again, we opened the window, and again, wet, humid air wafted in.
It was at this moment that I realized fall back weekend would have been a lot better if the weather just cooperated. I know we live in Florida, but this level of heat and humidity in November is not okay.
I decided the best thing to do would be to go for a run. I checked the weather, and it told me there’s a flood watch. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. I’m going anyway!
I ended up having a lovely run, and felt much better afterwards. Here I am finishing at 6 pm. Engie left a comment yesterday saying that people who live south of the Mason Dixon line should not get a say in whether or not to turn the clocks back. She has a point! Our days are never as short (or as long) as the days up north.

For dinner, I made these skillet enchiladas. Let the record show that I made THREE MEALS today! I won’t be cooking for the rest of the week, obviously.

Come back tomorrow to find out what color Angie’s hair is!
Did you enjoy falling back? What did you do with your extra hour?
