Festive Coffee Date

Woohoo! Red Day is here! I get insanely excited about the Starbucks holiday cups, even though I don’t get any of the fancy drinks. I stick with my Earl Grey tea- but I love drinking it out of a pretty cup. Since it’s the first Friday of the month, I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for their Ultimate Coffee Date.

If we were drinking out of holiday cups together, the first thing I would tell you is that we had a little rain this week. Hahahahaha. Okay, actually we had rain of biblical proportions.

So much flooding.

It rained so much that school was canceled for two days. This has never happened in the 26 years we’ve lived here. Well, there’s a first time for everything!

My daughter has had quite a week. Monday was a “senior skip day” so she didn’t go to school. Tuesday there was no school for Election Day. Then school was canceled Wednesday and Thursday because of the floods. Today the rain has stopped, and although roads are still flooded, school is open again.

Not a pond, but the street I was trying to drive on.

We also got the good news on Monday that Angie made All-State! She’s made All-State every year, but recently her interest in the flute has waned. She was planning to go into music but now she’s not sure about that, and not sure what she would do instead. Anyway, she realized that it would be sad not to make All-State her senior year, so she kicked it into gear at the end of the summer and started practicing hard again. So- we’re glad (and relieved) that she made it.

In spite of the torrential rain and historic flooding, it was a good week overall.

Regardless of who you voted for, I think we’re all glad that we no longer have to see political ads or be bombarded with a thousand texts a day. THAT WAS SO ANNOYING, RIGHT??? By the end I was starting to hate every candidate. Phew, glad that’s over. For now.

What would you tell me over coffee? Do you like the Starbucks holiday cups? Any crazy weather in your area?
