Happy Friday Things

See what I did there? A “clever” variation on Elisabeth’s Friday posts. Here are my Happy Things for this week!

A low-key Thursday

After my eventful Wednesday, Thursday was slow at work. We’ve been slammed lately, so it was a nice surprise to have some breaks in my day. I needed a day to decompress!

Good friends

My daughter’s friend came over yesterday to help her CLEAN HER ROOM. The room was hopelessly messy, and this girl initiated the project. They moved everything out, vacuumed and swept, rearranged the furniture, threw away and donated a ton of stuff, and now her room is AMAZING! They even hung a strand of white twinkle lights, and the room has such a cozy vibe. My daughter is SO HAPPY with it!

My new favorite drink

Yum.

I’ve been having these a few times a week. It’s a great substitute for soda, and sweetened with stevia. It does have tartaric acid in it- is that bad for me? I guess I’ll find out when I get the results of my bone density scan.

An Amazon delivery

It’s not what was in the box- we have a new cat toy! Cats just love boxes.

Live streaming my son’s concert

I love that we can see all of my son’s school concerts. Sylvie liked it too!

This sign…

Bed Bath and Beyond is coming back??? I loved that store! I’m excited!

Do you have any happy Friday things?

  1. I’m looking forward to browsing BBB again too! I think they are joining up with the Container Store.

Wow on your daughter’s room cleaning extravaganza — or was it an intervention. 😉 I definitely need some motivation to clean some old stuff out ….

    Have a great weekend.

    1. Ha ha… intervention is a good word for it! And yes, BBB is joining the Container Store. I hope it’s good!

  2. That’s a great friend to tackle the bedroom cleaning!
I watched my daughter’s college voice recital live-streamed. (She’s only 3 hours away, but I didn’t think I could make the drive back at 9pm at night. ) All her little brothers watched with me too. She did great – picked a great song for her vocal range. My cats are philistines and did not watch with us. Sylvie is the cuest!

    1. My son’s recital is tomorrow night! Once again we’re live streaming it because it’s too far for us to travel. Is your daughter a music major?

  3. Please send that friend over immediately. Does she do basements?

I’ll be excited if BB&B returns as a brick-and-mortar store. I loved shopping there. If it returns as just an online retailer, it’s not as good.

    1. Ha, I’m sure she would do your basement! She was making suggestions for our living room- I had to cut her off. And- BBB is returning as brick and mortar! Combined with the Container Store, so we’ll see… I’ll report back!

  4. That friend has an open invitation to come over to all of our houses!

I was just thinking about Bed Bath and Beyond the other day. They were always my go to for towels, so it’s very timely that they are back.

Cats and boxes! Endless entertainment for both cats and people. Sigh, this is one where cats > dogs. We have to be careful about leaving boxes and packaging around Doggo since she will either try to destroy them or eat them.

    1. BBB was my go to for so many things. I hope the new store is comparable to the old BBB- i’ll guess we’ll find out soon!

  5. The building where our BB&B once stood is empty…I wonder if they will come back here? If it’s true that they’re coming via the Container Store, we already have one of those, so maybe not. I liked them though, and miss being able to buy things there in person.

My brother has two cats, and sometimes sends photos of the cats in boxes. Very cute.

I love that your daughter and her friend tackled her room! What a wonderful thing! And I love that your daughter is so happy with it, too.

    1. Well, maybe your Container Store will morph into a BBB soon- that’s what’s happening with ours. I hope it opens soon, and I’ll report back!

  6. Is your daughter’s friend Elisabeth? That feels like something she would do – with the fairy lights and all!
Mind you, I like a good clean/ reorganization project as well, but I never think of fairy lights.

    1. Hahahaha… no, Elisabeth did not come to our house! But this was the next best thing. And like you said it wasn’t just cleaning, but some decorating as well. Some people are good at that- not me!

  7. I love stores like Bed, Bath, and Beyond. In Canada we have something similar called Winners and I could spend hours browsing and spend 1,000s of dollars. You know I tend to be frugal, so I mostly just browse, but someday I want to let loose and just buy ALL THE THINGS.

This post made me so… happy. I really love focussing on Happy Things on Friday (as you know) and it’s so fun to see someone else’s Happy list, too. Thanks for being such a bright spot in this blogging universe, Jenny.

    Hugs <3

  8. My mom just told me that BBB is coming back thanks to The Container Store, and I’m really happy about that! I loooove a slow stroll through BBB and I miss that experience!

Sylvie watching her brother’s performance – how cute is that!?!?!

When I was a kid, there was nothing I loved more than when my mom would come into my room and do a full clean/organize. What is it about kids and not being able to do that themselves?! Now I’m obsessed with organizing and can’t believe I ever kept my room a mess!
