walkers walk… but runners fly

It’s Tuesday!

Today’s prompt for Tuesday Topics is: Share a favorite memory from the summer.

I mean…. is this some kind of trick question??? I have one big, obvious, favorite memory from the summer…

STILL waiting on the professional photos!

It was seriously the most fun, joyful, and meaningful experience I’ve ever had. Everything about it was special- I got to spend time with my sister and BIL, meet our new “Indiana family,” saw very dear friends of the family who invested their time and money to fly to the wedding, and saw my son’s best friends from high school and college stand up as his groomsmen. I still think about it every single day.

AND, I have a new daughter!!!

Three days before the wedding….

Did I actually do anything else this summer? I scrolled through the photos on my phone…

There were trail runs…
Lots of reading…
And plenty of cat snuggles.

I’d say it was a pretty great summer!!!

  1. Your favorite memory- so sweet- hope your son knows how much you loved the wedding!
My favorite memory- also easy- meeting my granddaughter and holding and feeding her in the night. Just the two of us snuggling and her doing at the baby things. Nothing cam compare. Nothing but baby, drum major, and cats on my summer photo reel .

    1. Oh yes, there could only be one thing better than a wedding, and that’s a grandchild! I absolutely love that newborn phase where you’re just snuggling with them and feeding them (as opposed to the toddler phase where you’re chasing them around the house- although all phases are great!)

  2. Of course, it’s the wedding!!

I have a few: lake time, flower time, nature time, time with friends and family.

    Details on the blog. LOL

    1. You had a LOT of adventures this summer! Next summer we’re planning to travel more. I’m always inspired when I read your posts.

    1. True, summer technically isn’t over. I thought about including the first day of school photos here but that just seemed wrong for a “summer” post.

  3. You’ll have memories of the wedding for a long time I’m sure! I’m glad it went well and hopefully the professional photos turn out great.

This summer was hard for me as I lost my dog in June. But my favorite memory of the summer was going to Flagstaff for my birthday weekend in July — I got in some beautiful trail runs and my mom tagged along with me which made it more fun!

      1. No, I wish! But she found things to do when I was running, like she went to a local farmers market to check things out, and then we hung out when I wasn’t running.

  4. Of course the family wedding was The Event of your summer! I’m so glad it went well and that there were no hiccups, faux pas, or objectionable guest behaviours.

This summer has had a couple of Highlights, the biggest being the birth of our second grandson, Griffin. AND! I also had a lovely afternoon at our lakehouse with Kyria and Birchie.

  5. I would have been SHOCKED if the wedding wasn’t the high point of your summer (year!). What a fun sash on Isabel, too.

Favourite memory from the summer. Hmmm. I think it was the day I took my son and his friends bridge jumping. They had so much fun and it felt so summery and easy. It’s been a good summer, but I’m… exhausted. Just a lot of moving parts, some stressful situations beyond my control, and a LOT of time with my kids (which is lovely, but also exhausting).

I’ve enjoyed summer but am 1000% ready for fall to start 😉

    1. Yes, your summer is starting to sound exhausting to me, especially with all the company coming! Well… school will start soon (muahahahaha…)

  6. I am having a great summer (note: still present tense!) and there have been lots of great moments – blogger meets, Fourth of July parade, birthday celebrations, a long weekend spent with my family, etc., but the highlight was the unexpectedly awesome weekend I spent at my town’s Grown Up Book Fair. I just wasn’t expecting it to be so big and successful and for everyone I ran into to be so kind and happy. It was a joyful time I don’t think I’ll forget.

But, yeah, I think a wedding in my immediate family would be so much more exciting!!

  7. That is a great summer memory. For sure. My fav summer thing is not working and having more of the kids home. I love family meals and grad parties and going out for a drink with Coach, where we sit on the patio and enjoy a nice summer evening. We didn’t travel this summer, but we were in Florida for spring break. Next summer: Yellowstone! Hopefully by then one of our sons (or maybe both) will be engaged. Exciting times.

    1. Oooh… you do have exciting times coming up! Sounds like there will also be a wedding in your future. And Yellowstone… that will be epic.

  8. What an epic summer you had! I am glad you are still riding high on the memories of that wonderful day! Family weddings are so much fun! My nephew is getting married next June and I can’t wait! His GF has been at my parents lake home quite a bit over the years so we really know her well. They are quite young, too, like your Paul, but they seem very well-matched.

We have had a pretty good summer overall, and I’m still holding onto summer vibes! I think the best part has been having a pool pass. It’s been nice to have a “default” weekend activity that entertains the boys and allows me to do some reading in a lounge chair! Both boys have gotten better at swimming, Paul tackled the high dive (which shocked us all as he’s not a risk taker!) and Will got brave enough to do the water slide!

    1. Ooh, it sounds like your nephew’s wedding will be really fun! And… yes, a summer pool pass for the win. I hope you can do that every summer from now on.

  9. You had an EPIC summer, that’s for sure. What could top a gorgeous wedding and seeing your son so happy?!

My summer has been pretty low-key. The best part was probably my girls’ trip – we had a great time and the lazy river was sensational!
