walkers walk… but runners fly

Scattered Thoughts

Oof! There’s a lot going on right now. Work stress… wedding stress (I mean- all good, but lots of moving parts) body stress (I hurt my hamstring- you better believe you’ll hear all about it in the Weekly Rundown!) and home stress (my daughter decided to dye her hair, two weeks before the wedding… hot pink…).

The good news is, my husband is just about over his man-cold! I bought a six-pack of Kleenex boxes, and didn’t realize until this week that they have inspirational sayings on them. Like this:

Or, look at this one:

One of my favorite phrases!

Every time I heard my husband sniffle or moan I would call out, “read your Kleenex box!”

Everything WILL be okay. Here are some cat photos to prove it.

Their favorite perch on the bathroom windowsill.
Cozy nap!
Coexisting peacefully. You can still see where Sylvie was shaved for her surgery- otherwise it’s like it never happened.

Happy Friday!

Do you have any stressors or happy things to share?

Mid-Year Check-In

Hey there! It’s time for Tuesday Topics- this week’s topic: Mid-year check-in: What’s been your biggest win of 2026 so

  1. Sounds like a lot on your plate! The pink hair, well, teen girls will be teens; as long as it looks even, it’ll just reflect her true self in the wedding photos. (Her purple prom hair looks marvelous! )
Stressors: will adult son pass exam that could put him on a good career path? Will my reluctant scholar do okay at community college? Will other child unbloggable stuff continue? Will I lose the weight I just regained after losing two years ago ?

But happy thing which overwhelms the rest: I got to hold my granddaughter! And see my daughter and her husband. They’re doing awesome at this new parent thing. And the baby is stretching and making sweet baby noises…. and her cat keeps sneaking onto the baby’s soft blankets. So very happy!

    1. GAAAAAHHHHHH! Yep- holding your granddaughter would definitely cancel out everything else. I’m so so happy for you! And envious! I’m longing to hold a grandchild (my son says it will be in five year, and I’m patiently counting down the days). Enjoy every single second!!!

  2. love the quotes! Everything will be okay!
hopefully your hamstring heals quickly. Oh.. check your shoes. I had knee issue this wednesday and realized that my left shoe heal is very much eroded, so I replaced the pair and felt inmediatey better on the next run. my shoes don’t last past 400 miles it seems.

    1. That’s a good thought. I don’t think this came from my shoes, but it probably is time for a new pair. Thank you!

  3. Stressors. My lower back every morning. My Achilles but at least it is much improved. Job stuff. My 2 cats still hate the new cat.

Hopefully things will work out for you.

    1. Oh no- cat drama. Are they fighting, or is it a lot of hissing and avoidance? It can take a while. WHY do cats hate other cats so much????

  4. Everything will work out and the wedding will be fantastic — even with the pink hair!

I do hope your hamstring heals soon. My hip is being a real b*tch.

  5. Inspirational tissue boxes, who knew they existed, and now I wish I had them.
Shrug on the hair dye – hot pink might not go great with the colours but honestly, it’s her hair. Also at some point she may look back at those photos and think “yeesh, what was I thinking?” Or maybe not, maybe she’ll think she looks great. All eyes will be on the bride, as they say, and hair is hair. Although this reminds me of when I got married and Rob’s sister wore this DRESS, Jenny, it was cut on the bias and slit up to almost the pantyline. And in all the group photos it looks WILD. And…I don’t know how to say this but it is not flattering at all. But whoever looks at those group photos? What I’m saying is the sister of the groom is not the focus here, and anyone who knows her will know that she likes a colourful hairdo!
Sorry about your poor hammie! Hope it heals quickly!

    1. Lol on the dress. I did warn Angie that we will be looking at these photos for the rest of our lives, and she finally agreed on an alternative color which is deep purple. Better than hot pink. And yes, it’s her hair. Some people would question why I would “let” her dye her hair an outrageous color before the wedding, but there’s no “letting” here. She does what she wants with her hair.

  6. So exciting that the wedding is so soon! Not so great that your daughter dyed her hair right before haha but it sounds like a typical teen girl decision.

My current stressors: the heat (which I know you understand!) and one of my toenails is hurting so that’s making running not so fun and I feel like I’m still barely running enough for my upcoming race which is now 11 weeks out.

    1. 11 weeks is still a long time. Why is your toenail hurting- is it a shoe thing? That would make running uncomfortable. And yes, the heat. Everything is more difficult in the heat.

  7. WEDDING COUNTDOWN!!!

I never knew that inspirational Kleenex boxes were a thing, but I approve! Halls cough drops have tiny good thoughts written on the wrappers. It’s so subtle that they/re easy to miss.

Muffin and Sylvie Team Nap!!! Everything is OK.

My happy thing is that I hosted a jigsaw party at my house last night. Two friends came over and we had a great time. Doggo was very wary of strangers in the house, but she soon warmed up and was very social.

  8. I have one of those inspirational kleenex boxes on my desk! Mine says “You are doing so much better than you think you are.”

Oof, the pulled hamstring is no bueno! Gah! I’m so sorry you are dealing with that! And hot pink hair for Angie is a choice but she probably rarely doesn’t have boldly dyed hair so it’s on brand and Paul is probably used to it?

Well the stressor in my house is that Taco fell last night. He was pushing a truck on the side walk, tripped, and face planted. He has a goose egg on his forehead and scraped up one side of his face. He looks so rough. It happened at “the goose house” which is the place w/ the costumed geese that puts out kid toys. So we had a 4 block screaming/crying walk home where we encountered a woman who gasped when she saw him and asked if we needed help. Eeks. Antibiotic cream and tylenol helped and he looks a little bit better today. But it’s a good thing school pictures are months away… I felt so badly for him that I did not sleep well because I was worried about whether he would wake up and how he’d look in the morning, etc etc.

  9. Cackling over here at your husband being directed to read his inspirational Kleenex boxes!!! (Man colds are the wooooorst.)

    Oh, teens. Arrrrrrggggggghhhhhh.

    Thank goodness for cats, right?

  10. Those boxes are SO fun. I love inspirational quotes, so I need to be on the lookout for them.

    Man colds are the worst!

Stressors. Hmmm. I feel like I’m a bit behind on everything, but just trying to release my grip on some very unimportant things and just letting life… happen for a while instead of trying to control too much at once? Happy Things… I wrote a whole post about that angle of life today 🙂
