walkers walk… but runners fly

5 Things About This Weekend

We kicked off the weekend (see what I did there) with a football playoff game!

Our team won 48-7, and now we wait to see… we will have a game on Black Friday, but we don’t know yet if it will be at home or away.

Yet another halftime show!

I take Charlotte to the vet this afternoon.

Send all prayers and encouraging thoughts my way! I’m dreading getting her into the carrier, and worried about what the vet is going to tell us.

The Three Musketeers.

I’m doing a long run!

Originally scheduled for Sunday morning, but I’m going to do it in the late afternoon/evening tonight instead. That way I can sleep in and relax tomorrow.

…but then I have to CLEAN THE HOUSE.

Boy, it doesn’t take long for the house to fall apart. I feel like we were barely home this week (so who made all the messes? The cats???)  We really need to get it together.

And, grocery shopping!

It’s come to my attention that Thanksgiving is THURSDAY. I haven’t even made a grocery list yet, egads. Last year we had this:

Along with mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, salad, pie…you know, the usual!

What are you up to this weekend?

5 Days Away…

Oh hi! I’m hoping you’ve stopped by to find out how I’m doing the week of my race. (Or maybe

Why Am I Doing This?

Hey there! I haven’t had a Deep Thoughts post in a while, and I know how much everyone has been

  1. It’s nice that the weather is cooler so you have the option to run later in the day. Sleeping in sounds wonderful! I hope the weather cooperates! I’m heading out for 5 miles in a bit and it’s 35F… it’s going to be quite cold on Thanksgiving morning when I run a 10k race. But I am not complaining because at least it won’t be icy or snowing!

Paul and I are going to the grinch at the children’s theater today. It’s an annual tradition. It’s so so so good!! I can’t wait. Tomorrow I am taking the boys shopping for gifts to donate to a toy/gift drive at church. And I am going to figure out some Christmas lights for our front porch. We have never put up lights but this year I am going to. The boys are quite excited.

    1. I read that in your blog post! I hope you had a fun day, and got those Christmas lights. I originally thought I would get some outdoor lights up this weekend, but who am I kidding… I have too much to do just to get ready for Thanksgiving.
Cold, but not snowy or icy doesn’t sound so bad for a race!

  2. I’m sending good vet vibes your way. Let’s have this been the one time out of one thousand that a cat willingly goes into it’s carrier, and let’s have the vet’s assessment be “she’s skinny but she’s fine” or “she has x condition which is easily and cheaply treated with y remedy”.

Woo hoo for the Friday night football win! Booyah!

My weekend is undecided. The weather is great so in a perfect world I’d go to Mohican SP to hike, but I’ve been sick so it’s probably smarter to stay home and rest. I’ll probably end up compromising with a shorter hike closer to home with Doggo.

    1. Oh, I hope you feel better! And… your second Charlotte scenario was closer than the first. She’s skinny but not fine- but it’s a condition that can hopefully be treated without bankrupting us.

  3. Fingers crossed for Charlotte! I’m so impressed that the cats all eat together like that. I feel like my old dog Barkley would try to kill any dog getting near his food. I have no idea how Rex would be, he’s generally not super-interested in food, but maybe if another dog was around he would be.

    1. The cats are okay AS LONG AS THEY ALL HAVE FOOD. If one of them finishes first, that one tries to hog the other’s food. I took that photo because it was a wonderful moment of peace.

  4. Hope Charlotte is okay!
long run is my weekend ritual, did 12 miles this morning while finishing an outstanding audiobook. Now I think I’m hooked with audiobooks for non-fiction.
we will do some Christmas shopping this afternoon

  5. I hope Charlotte is ok! It’s always stressful when our pets get sick.

I almost always do my long run on Saturday and that’s the plan for today. I almost never start early though because I already have to do that during the week, so I usually get going around 10 or so and finish in the early afternoon, so I still have some day ahead, and then a rest day on Sunday to look forward to. And it’s nice this time of year because it’s not hot so I don’t have to start earlier to beat the heat!

    1. That does sound nice- if I had Saturday and Sunday off I would do the same thing (although- maybe not starting at 10 am because it’s hot here again). I actually did my run this afternoon/evening so now I get to relax tomorrow!

    1. Thank you Suzanne! Charlotte is home from the vet, my long run is done, and I’m looking forward to a good night’s sleep.

  6. I’m thinking of you and wish I had your number so I could text you and check in on Charlotte. <3

Did you like that turk’y roast? I feel like maybe you did. I think that’s the one my daughter likes…I hope so, because I bought it for her.

    1. Yes, I think we liked it. Weirdly I can’t remember, but I think that’s why I took a picture of it! I’ll give an update on Charlotte soon.

  7. So fun that you got to go to a football game! I haven’t been in forever, and we just had the local college’s “rivalry” game this weekend and I missed it. Jon and I used to go every year.

Fingers crossed for Charlotte’s vet visit. I am hoping for good news.

  8. 48-7! That’s quite a substantive win. Woo!

I took a peek at your other blog posts to make sure Charlotte is okay. <3

You know all about my weekend since I was doing Week in the Life! Not the most exciting weekend, ha, but a productive one.
