As you can see, I don’t ONLY drink out of my Crazy Pumpkin Lady mug in the fall. No, no, no… I have a whole collection of fall and Halloween mugs! Why are mugs so fun (is it only me???) Anyway…
Yesterday I mentioned I went to Barnes and Noble. I returned my book with the missing pages (grr) and browsed around happily. I had fun looking at the calendars. We use an old fashioned wall calendar in our kitchen every year, and while I’m not quite ready to buy a new one right now, I admired the selection. They had SIX cat calendars! And, a calendar of “Disappointing Affirmations” that made me think of Engie (Engie did not like my Kleenex boxes with the positive sayings on them).

I’m not going to get this calendar- I’ll probably end up with a cat one- but I especially like “You are exactly where you’re supposed to be… (because you make terrible decisions).” Hee hee!
I also had fun looking at the advent calendars! Once again, I thought of Engie…

Should I get an advent calendar this year? A couple years ago I got a reading-themed advent calendar and it was really fun. And every year I get one for the cats (with little treats each day). I’m still trying to decide if I should get one for myself…
If we were having coffee together, we could talk about weekend plans! We have a high school football game tonight. The weather forecast shows rain, but that’s true for every day this month. We have learned to forge ahead optimistically, in spite of the forecast.
Saturday I’ll work all day, and it’s usually a hard day. But then I enjoy coming home and taking a nap, getting takeout, and settling down on the couch for the rest of the evening. Sunday… will be Sunday-ish. But, there’s no school on Monday because of Yom Kippur. I still have work, but I can sleep a little later and enjoy the holiday vibes vicariously.
Do you have any fun weekend plans?
Do you get an advent calendar for yourself, your kids and/or your pets? Any good recommendations for this year?

Okay, Jenny, no lie, I would LOVE that calendar. It is AMAZING and everything I want in my office supplies. I’m so happy you’re wandering around the world thinking about me and disappointing affirmations!
Of course I buy myself an advent calendar every year. This year I special ordered one from the UK and I’m just waiting for it to appear like magic at my house sometime soonish! Yay! We also do our puzzle advent calendar every year. I think we’ve had it for two or three years now. It’s really a nice little quiet time at the end of the day.
