Hi there! Today’s Tuesday prompt is a free topic (oh good! I do well with those). Here are some things going on around here this week…
IT’S ALMOST OCTOBER!!! That means my Halloween decorations will be coming out! Unfortunately we do a black cat theme, and this will be our first Halloween without Charlotte. It’s going to be sad… but I think we’ll still put out our black cat decorations in her honor. She’s already part of our fall display.
Meanwhile… we had another football dinner on Sunday!
That was fun! And easy.
Now I have two days off, and I’m looking forward to finishing my book.
Next up I’ll read Sleeping Murder by Agatha Christie. It will be a reread, as I read all of her books in my teens and 20s. And guess what- I just found out Lucy Foley has a new “Miss Marple” mystery out!
I have a hold on this at my library- I’m #128 in line. Sigh.

I found a new series, so I’ll be putting the ones I haven’t read yet on hold. I , of course, read #5,6,7, so I’ll need to backtrack to #1-4. Claire Booth- Hank Worth mysteries.
I don’t think I’d like a charcuterie board- I’d just bring some fresh popped salted popcorn for a game.
I LOVE POPCORN! And… it’s a mystery series? I’ll look into it.
I’ve added Fellowship Point to my holds list. It seems to be showing up a lot and I am intrigued (and the premise sounds very much like a book I’d enjoy).
Your football smorgasbord looks so fun (and yummy). Favourite thing on a charcuterie: hmmm. Probably the crackers, if I’m being honest. I’m a carb (and salt) kind of gal 🙂

I have so many books on my nightstand. Probably some holds too. I think the new Moriarty and McFadden books.
I love olives, Brie and most things on a platter. My only dislike would be avocado.

I also love Liane Moriarty. I’m sure the new one is good, and I’ll read it at some point.
Awww, that’s so nice that sweet Charlotte has a place of honor on your fall decorations wall. Hopefully, you and your family can smile at her memory rather than getting too sad when you see your other black cat decorations.

I was thinking of you when I was at the farm market. I will have to take a photo next time – there are so many pumpkins. You would be in your glory!

Yes, I must see a photo of lots and lots of pumpkins!!! And yes- we used to joke that Halloween was “Charlotte’s big day.” Now it can be a day where we honor her memory.

I don't do seasonal decorations, but I very much enjoy seeing everyone else's. Especially now that I'm in new neighborhood. It's really fun to see people go all out. I keep meaning to take a nighttime walk to check out the lights, but I haven't done it yet. Maybe tonight.
My Libby hold came in for Fellowship Point and I'm three chapters in!

Our neighborhood has gotten worse and worse as far as Halloween decorations go. And we don’t get as many trick or treaters either, which is sad. I guess there aren’t many families with young kids right now. To be honest, I’ll put up decorations inside but my outdoor ones will be minimal.
Well you know about the library hold I am excited about since I texted you from the library when I grabbed my hold for the Undead Fox. First Paul and I need to get through the national park book that we just started and then we will read that and then return to the Nevermoor series which we are both really enjoying!
I love your snacky meals! Those kinds of meals are my favorite!
We have very very few Halloween decorations but I need to get them out. All I have is some purple spider lights for our mantel and then 2 chicks that are wear fall apparel.

Your decorations may be minimal, but I bet your boys will be excited when they come out.
I am in the midst of two books that are quite long – both 700+ pages – so I am not even looking at my holds list. It’s going to be quite some time until I get to them! Plus, I’ve decided to treat myself to a reread of Realm of the Elderlings and those books are long, too. I’m so excited for all these immersive books!
I go back and forth- sometimes I like to read a lot of shorter books. But most of my favorite reading experiences were long, immersive books- like the Ken Follett Century trilogy. I still think about those!

Jenny! I thought the picture at the top was a rhinoceros (which I had to google to even spell) and then I thought, “What does that even have to do with October???”
I love snack dinner. Cheese is always my favorite thing on the board. And grapes.
I can’t even tell you what’s on my holds. Sometimes I put things on hold late at night when I’m tired. Kind of like drunk dialing, but with holds instead, and then I don’t remember doing it in the morning.
Diane, that happens to me all the time- the library will notify that my holds are ready and I can’t even remember what they are or why I put a hold on them. It can be a fun surprise!
Maybe it should be a new thing- the Halloween rhinoceros, hee hee.

My favorite part of charcuterie boards is usually the crackers and olives, I love salty snacks!

I love snacky dinners (that’s my way of trying to get out of spelling charcuterie, but then look, I did it!) I love all of it. Salami, cheese, crackers, nuts, olives, fruit, YUM. There’s a place we sometimes go for dinner that has a cheese plate for dinner, and sometimes I get that. It comes with fruit and nuts and 1-4 kinds of cheese, depending on how hungry you are. YUM.
I haven’t written my review yet (maybe today?) but I listened to, and really enjoyed, Lady Tremaine. It was engrossing and not what I expected, thank you for the recommendation!
