walkers walk… but runners fly

Tuesday Randomness

Okay, South Florida… you’re in big trouble. My last post was titled “Florida Redeems Itself” because we had such great weather last week. This week… is wet and muggy again.

Grr.

Okay- 80s is better than 90s. But when I went outside this morning, my first thought was “I do NOT like the feel of this air!” I checked the weather app, and sure enough, the humidity was 90% and NO ONE WANTS THAT. Of course the rain will cool us down, but it’s not exactly invigorating, you know?

Moving along. I still have Tuesdays and Wednesdays off, so right now, on Monday night, I’m looking forward to my “weekend.” First up- a long run on Tuesday morning. I’m wondering what this will be like. Will it by muggy? Will the sun come out and try to kill me? Will it be breezy and overcast? Or will I be running in the pouring rain? I can’t wait to find out.

Both afternoons, my daughter has some semi-important auditions. Nothing crucial, just an attempt to win some scholarship money for college (in other words- it would be nice if she does well, but also not devastating if she doesn’t- she’ll still go to college!) This involves driving on my part, and then some waiting around. That’s okay because I’m reading a GREAT book:

I’m really loving it, but the past couple days have been frustrating, as far as finding time to read. I’m looking forward to some dedicated reading time.

What else am I looking forward to? Well, we have another high school football game this week- it’s our last regular game of the season. There will be playoff games, but the season is winding down (sob).

I’m also looking forward to Halloween! It will be a usual Saturday for me (work, and then home at night watching football) except that I’ll be giving out candy to the trickle of trick-or-treaters we’ll get. I’m living vicariously through my daughter though. She and her best friend have a whole day planned, of movie watching, trick or treating, and then home where the boyfriend will join. The poor guy has to work ALL DAY, but he’ll join in the afterparty festivities.

THEN! WE GET TO TURN THE CLOCKS BACK!!! I’m absolutely astonished that people don’t like falling back. I mean, if you have small kids, I get it- I hated changing the clocks in those days as well. But now! Who doesn’t want an extra hour (again, people with toddlers- I get it). It will be LIGHT in the morning! Mornings are for sunlight! Evenings are for darkness!

As you can tell, I’m very excited about this. I did a search on my phone, and in 2020 I put together a special “fall back” charcuterie board on November 1st! Hmm… I might have to replicate that masterpiece this weekend.

Whoa.
