The time has come! It didn’t get “cold”, or even “Florida cold” (i.e. down to the 50s) but our weather did cool off a bit, and more importantly, the humidity dropped. I’m linking up as always with Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Rundown (thanks, ladies!) I’ve been wanting to add more walking into my schedule… could this be the week for it? Let’s find out…
Sunday
I slept in a little and then went for a run. For whatever reason, I just didn’t feel great. I brought water, which I really didn’t need as it was overcast and breezy. It was one of those tough runs, and I was glad when 5 plodding miles were done.

Monday
In the morning I did Caroline Girvan’s deadbug workout. Then, after I dropped my daughter at school, I was inspired by the nice weather to go for a short (15 minute) walk. After work I walked for another 30 minutes.
Tuesday
Long run on the trail! Last time I ran on this trail, I saw lots of deer. This time… it was wild pigs. The first one looked at me and then ran into the bushes, and… hee hee… oinked. WHY IS THAT SO FUNNY? Somehow I think of pigs only “oinking” in cartoons, but no, they oink in real life!

Later, I saw three smaller pigs, who ran away as soon as they saw me (“oink! oink!”) and then later I saw one more. I haven’t seen a pig on this trail in a looong time, so I don’t know why today was pig day. Overall this run felt good, and I finished with 12.5 mies.

Later in the day- a 30 minute walk.
Wednesday
THIS was really the day- it was 67 degrees in the morning. I know that doesn’t sound cool, but the humidity was low and it felt AMAZING. I had a gleeful 4 mile run.

In the afternoon I did an upper body strength workout, and THEN I walked for an hour while talking to my son! We had fun talking about plans for Christmas, when he and his wife will be here.
Thursday
I started the day with lower body strength. After work I walked for 40 minutes, and then we had a high school football game! It was SUCH A NICE NIGHT. The weather was perfect, our team won 45-0 (I feel like that was also the score of our last game???) AND it was Senior Night, where the seniors in the band were honored in a halftime ceremony.

Friday
In the morning, a 15 minute walk. I am on a walking streak! Then after work, a 5 mile run. I really loved this run- it started off a little hot in the sun, but then the sun started to set, a cool breeze set in and it felt awesome. I guess Florida isn’t so bad after all!

Saturday
Well, darn- I broke my walking streak. I did a short lower body strength workout in the morning, then worked all day. After work I took a lovely nap. What can I say… Saturdays are tiring!
Sunday
On tap- a 5 mile run. And later in the day- a walk! I’ll start a new streak.
How was your weather this week?- I can finally say that ours was great!
What’s your favorite animal to see on a run? – Wild pigs, for sure.

Yay for cooler weather and yay for little piggies, haha!
It looks like you had a great week, Jenny!
How long was your walking streak up to Saturday?
Ha, well it was only five days. But that was a lot for me, because I had only been walking twice a week. I started the new streak today, and we’ll see if I can make it a little more than 5 days.
cooler weather is runners’ best friend!!! And those pigs…..so funny!
YES! Runs feel completely different when the weather is cool.
Weather in Illinois has been amazing. Sunny, dry, cool at night. High in low 70’s. However, I’d really like it to be cooler- I want sweater weather back.
If I’m out on a walk, I like seeing cats ( no surprise), but the only wild animals I see are squirrels and rabbits and birds. Nothing exotic! Are the wild pigs dangerous at all?
I’m very glad you’re having such great weather, because my son is also up in your area. He probaby wishes it were a little cooler as well- he likes it chilly.
Theoretically, the pigs (like any wild animal) could be dangerous, so I always approach with caution. But they always run away when they see me.
We’ve had amazing weather pretty much all month! If it stayed like this, I’d never want for more… glad you are having more temperate conditions too! Wild pigs? That is hilarious. I’ve never ever seen a wild pig in my life, altho in Arizona they have javelinas, which is kind of a wild pig, i guess…when we were there, we did see them in the wild. I did see some deer (yay!) but not much else this week.
Weirdly, I saw no deer this time. Maybe the pigs scare them away. I had never seen a wild pig until a few years ago, when I saw one on this very trail. I had to look it up- do wild pigs really live in Florida??? Yes, they do!
We had great weather this week—I need to layer up to take Scooby out.
I think I would be scared of wild pigs. Maybe the little ones are cute but ….
The pigs aren’t aggressive, but like all wild animals should be approached with caution. Whenever I see one, I stop immediately and give it a chance to see me, and I don’t continue to run until it leaves the trail.
Layering weather sounds awesome!!!
Wild pigs??!!
I am so glad you’ve finally gotten some “nice” fall weather. It really is the best! Now, I’m very jealous of your winters, but feel a bit sad you miss out on the sunny, crisp delight that is cooler latitudes this time of year. So… hooray!
I would say our weather was way less soggy, but not QUITE “crisp.” But, crisp will come. We’ll have some crisp winter mornings.
We love seeing dogs on a walk, but we are so biased, haha! We also enjoy seeing deer and other woodland creatures. (I, personally, don’t enjoy seeing snakes – eek!) PS: I did dead bugs in a workout the other day and thought of you!!
Yay for dead bugs! They’re so good for your core. I don’t mind little snakes that slither away when they sense I’m coming, but I think I would freak out if I saw a larger snake coiled on the trail… eeek.
I have to admit that I am terrified of your wild hogs, even more so than your alligators! Unless you surprise an alligator they “seem” to just be sleeping and ignore you, but I’ve heard a wild pig can be aggressive! Last year when we rode with a gravel group in West Palm Beach, a rider was recovering from a serious bike accident where a young boar charged his bike and caused serious damage to both him and his bike!
Glad to hear you’re loving your weather again! 67° with low humidity is quite delightful! We had a nice week weather-wise as well!
WHAT. I’ve heard story of a woman who was, bizarrely, attacked and killed by a group of wild pigs, but I thought that was an outlier. They’ve never seemed aggressive to me, but maybe I need to rethink that. It certainly sounds like a serious incident with that cyclist.
We had the best weather too this week and it made a huge difference in my mood. While we have way too many deer around here, I must say, I have never seen a wild pig out and about 🙂
I’m pretty sure the pigs are not as abundant as deer! I’ve never heard of anyone seeing a pig wandering around their neighborhood.
Yay for cooler weather! 67F sounds like the perfect temperature to me if you want to run.
Wild pigs?? Is that something different than wild boars? I’ve never heard of any other type of wild pig, but on your picture it just looks like a harmless pig but.. different colour. The only wild animals I may see are foxes but they are never out during the day and I only see them if they were hit by a car and lie dead on the road (which happened this week). But my favourite animals to see on a run is of course cows.
We’ve had some storms this week, but other than that I must say it’s been glorious even if it’s colder and windier. We have some very pleasant autumn weather and I still go out in shorts at least if I intend to run, and that’s a big thing to me and something to celebrate, haha! I hate having to put on layers and not knowing what is warm enough. This winter when I run again choosing clothes will be all about trial and error.
The first time I saw them, I looked it up and can’t remember if there’s any difference between a wild pig and a wild boar. I think they’re the same- but I should look it up again to refresh my memory. I wish we could see foxes here! I’ve never seen one, so I wonder if they live in Florida.
If I tried to run up north again I would have no idea what to wear. I wear shorts year-round here!
Our weather has also been so nice here, in the low to mid 60s in the mornings when I run! I haven’t needed to break out the long sleeves yet though, when I usually do by this time of year.
The wild pigs are so cute! We have an animal here called a javelina that look like pigs but aren’t, but they can be aggressive especially when they have babies with them, and they don’t like dogs. I see them on the trails, crossing the road and I used to see big groups of them hanging out by the dumpster at my apartment! I didn’t get too close though even though the tiny babies are so cute, because I didn’t want to get chased! But my favorite animal to see on runs is the Gila monster, they’re pretty rare but I’ve seen about a dozen over the years and they’re so cool! They’re venomous but they’re really chill and don’t bother people.
Ooh- low 60s is my favorite running weather. And, your comment reminds me that any animal could be dangerous if they think you’re threatening their babies. I should probably be more wary of the pigs (although so far I haven’t seen any babies).
Wild pigs?! I’ve heard of such things, but never seen one. Are they scary? They are so big!
The weather here is typical Midwestern autumn with wild swings in temperatures each day. I’m wearing sweats and a hat in the morning and wish I were in a sundress by mid-afternoon. Oh, well. The skies are blue, the trees are changing, and I can’t really complain because I have to change clothes three times a day.
Oh, I’m sure my son wishes it was cooler! He wants actual chilly weather.
The pigs are scary only in that, any wild animal could behave unpredictably. I’m always cautious when I see one.
I am glad the temps dropped and it was less humid. Humidity dropping makes such a huge difference! How funny to see wild pigs on a run! If I run oitdoors, it’s always on city streets/running paths so I don’t see many wild animals besides squirrels and such.
It was really warm here this week. The temps were in the 70s which is not normal! It cooled off last week and will be a more normal week. I hope it’s nice on Saturday for Halloween. It’s snowed or been rainy the last several years!
Yes, I hope your nice weather continues through Halloween! Then it could cool down and get more seasonal. I remember how disappointed we were if we had to wear a winter coat over our costumes.
I’ve never seen a wild pig on the run or on the walk but I would have giggled too!
Yes, they’re funny animals!
Nice work with all that walking! I love your attitude in that you said you’d just start a new streak (instead of dwelling on the broken streak). Glad you had some “cool” Florida weather 😉
