walkers walk… but runners fly

Weekly Rundown- Not My Finest Moments

Hey there! It’s time for the Weekly Rundown (and Day #3 of MayBloPoMo!) I didn’t have a stellar week of workouts, but at least I have a lot of excuses. Read on to hear them all! Thanks as always to Kim and Deborah for hosting.

Monday

The day started off with yoga- Adriene’s morning hip mobility. After work I went to the gym to run on the treadmill… but let’s back up a couple days. On Saturday I did an Iron Series leg workout, which was pretty much all lunges. On this run, I felt those lunges in my left knee- it didn’t exactly hurt, and I completed 4 miles, but it was weirdly stiff. I didn’t like that ONE BIT.

Tuesday

In the morning I did Adriene’s yoga for psoas. Later in the day I had Iron Series Day #13, posterior chain. My knee was still not right, but I figured a workout for back, glutes and hamstring wouldn’t bother it too much, and I was right.

Wednesday

In the morning, a 4 mile run.

Knee feels… okay…

I knew Thursday was going to be a crazy day, so I decided to do the next Iron Series workout today- except it was a full body workout, and I was sore from yesterday. I decided to skip ahead one day, to day #15- shoulders. In Caroline’s words, this one was a “sizzler”. But at least it sizzled my shoulders and not my knee.

Thursday

Here’s where the week started to fall apart. I did yoga for low back pain in the morning, and then, because of a jazz band concert and emergency dress shopping trip (long story- not for me, for my daughter) I did nothing else all day.

Friday

This was a tough day with lots of teen drama. I finally got out for a 4 mile run in the early evening. It was definitely a stress-reliever!

Saturday

Ugh.  I had a horrible night’s sleep, but I also had a PLAN. Work, nap, and then an Iron Series workout… except that when I lay down for my nap, I slept through my alarm. My husband came in to wake me up 20 minutes before we had to leave for dinner with friends. FAIL!

Missing that workout did not feel good, but I drowned my sorrows with a couple of these:

The polar opposite of a Caroline Girvan workout.

Sunday

Okay. Let’s get back on track! The plan for today is the full body Iron Series workout that I skipped earlier in the week. Next week will be better!

How was your week? Any workout fails, or were you consistent?

  1. lunges not done properly can really trigger my knee issue so I’m now only doing in your gym group workout sessions as the instructor checks the form carefully.
I had a good workout week, 3 an hour strength training at the gym class, and 5 runs (the last one today as recovery run). I did less yoga and stretching though, will do it again today.

  2. Sometimes it’s ok to get the extra sleep and skip a workout. I’m sure you will be right back at it this week. This is the first vacation that I really skipped a bunch of workouts because we were touring all day. Normally this would freak me out but it’s not. It’s okay and my gym will be there when I get home

  3. I dunno, that beer looks epic, so I’d say it was a good week, as long as we edit for teen drama.

This week was insanely busy, so workouts had to take the back burner. I think I’m in a fitness season of “I made it up myself” bodyweight strength workouts plus dog walking.

  4. I’m sure sleeping through your alarm and missing the workout wasn’t what you wanted, but it sounds like your body needed it! Sometimes we all need a nap and a beer 🙂 Hope your knee feels okay and you get in your good workout today.

  5. Your body must have needed that extra sleep for you to have slept through the alarm. You’re consistent enough that one little missed class won’t hurt a thing!

Here’s to a fantastic week ahead!

  6. We all those “fails” on occasion, and I think they’re a necessary evil. Your body was probably needing that extra rest. I seldom ever take naps, but yesterday afternoon it was necessary. And then I was fully charged for an energetic evening at a rock concert (give & take, LOL).
