walkers walk… but runners fly

NaBloPoMo (and Weekly Rundown!)

HELLOOOOO! It’s November 1sr, which means it’s time to join San for NaBloPoMo! If you’re new here and thinking “you know, I’m not really interested in running”, fear not! I seem to talk mostly about cats, football, reading, and general life. In fact, if you found my blog thinking it would be all about running, you might be very disappointed.

However, every Sunday I join Kim and Deborah for the Weekly Rundown, and this Sunday is no different. Let’s see how this week of workouts went down…

Sunday

A 5 mile run to start the day. By the way, our beautiful weather last week came to a screeching halt today. The humidity is back, and I’m very cranky about it.

Later in the day, I got out for a 20 minute walk- starting a new streak!

Monday

In the morning, I did Caroline Girvan’s deadbug workout and upper body strength. Later in the day, a 20 minute walk.

Tuesday

13 mile run! I did this run in and around a huge park in our area.

Evidence of our soggy week.

Later in the day I got out for a 35 minute walk.

Wednesday

I gave my legs a little break and did an upper body strength workout. Later, a 30 minute walk.

Thursday

In the morning, a lower body strength workout. Later in the day, a 5 mile run. I finished this run as the sun was setting, which I love… and I thought about how early the sun will be setting next week!

Friday

In the morning, CG deadbug workout again. After work, a 45 minute walk. And at night… our last regular season football game! The band didn’t play a halftime show because it was Senior Night for the football players and cheerleaders, but they still played plenty in the stands during the game. We won 35-0, and I thoroughly enjoyed it… while being painfully aware that high school football is drawing to a close for me. We’ll surely be going to the playoffs, but no word yet on whether those games will be at home or away. Sigh.

Spooky orange and black sky!

Saturday

A 5 mile run before work, with some speed work thrown in.

And then… woohoo! I love Saturday nights, and I spent this one in my very favorite way- sitting on the couch in my pajamas, eating Chipotle and watching football (with the added activity this time of getting up every once in a while to answer the door for trick-or-treaters). I watched the Miami game, and speaking of our high school team, have I mentioned that one of our star players who graduated last year, Javian Mallory, now plays for UM? I spend the game shouting at the TV; “Hi Javian! Go Javian! Way to go, Javian!” My husband points out that he a) can’t hear me, and b) has no idea who I am. HEY, I’ve been at every game he played for the last three years- I think I have the right to pretend I know him.

Sunday

AHHHH! The best day of the year! We get an extra hour of sleep, and now we won’t be driving to school in the dark every morning. I like dark, cozy evenings. If you don’t like falling back, I’ll do my best to convince you that it’s awesome. Come back tomorrow for my Halloween wrap-up and to see how I celebrated “Fall Back Weekend.”

  1. Happy NaBloPoMo, Jenny! Looking forward to following along, running or no running!
You had a good week of workouts, but I’m particularly impressed with those 13 miles in the soggy park!
And yay for an extra hour of sleep! Enjoy your cosy Sunday.
