It’s my “weekend!” (As a reminder- I don’t work Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Here’s what I’m looking forward to…

A trail run! First thing Tuesday morning… well, almost. First I’ll drop my daughter at school, and then head straight to the trail. Yes, it’s super hot, the trail is overgrown and last time I fell. But I really love these runs! I’ll listen to my favorite podcasts, and if I’m struggling towards the end I’ll put on music. I’m VERY grateful that I’m injury-free and able to run.

FINISHING THIS BOOK FOR GOD’S SAKE. Have you ever felt like you just couldn’t get through a book, even though you’re enjoying it? I really like this book! It’s a police procedural with an interesting mystery, and there’s great character development. But I feel like I just haven’t been able to carve out time to read lately, and it’s frustrating. I think I started this a week ago! I am finishing it by the end of Wednesday, no matter what.

Oh, it’s pumpkin time! As a matter of fact, today (August 25) Starbucks rolls out their fall drinks. I like seeing and hearing all about them, but sadly I don’t drink any because a) they’re not vegan, b) I don’t like coffee, and c) I don’t drink sugary drinks. But there are other pumpkin treats I enjoy, like my favorite protein bars.

Naps! Both days. Hopefully with cats.

Getting new tires. Okay, that’s a trick. I do have to get new tires on Wednesday. I’m not exactly looking forward to it, BUT the tire place is within walking distance of a Starbucks. I can sip on an Earl Grey while admiring the fancy fall drinks and FINISH MY BOOK.

Yay for pumpkin stuff and the “start of” fall (I put that in quotes because it’s only starting commercially, but still I’m here for it). I want to try that flavor of IQ Bar – I also love pumpkin but don’t care for the super sugary pumpkin stuff this time of year.
I just got an amazing throw at Costco that is all black cats with their yellow eyes. It’s…a lot! Now I just have to get my black cat to sit on it so I can take a photo (right now she is NOT interested).
Have a great “weekend”!
Oh, my cats love all throw blankets! i wouldn’t have any trouble at all getting them to sit on one. Unfortunately I don’t have a Costco membership, so I can’t rush right out and buy that blanket.
The IQ bars are good! I wish they had more protein, but I like everything else about them.
Enjoy that trail run, Jenny! It’s so nice to have exercise to look forward to. And then a book and a Starbuck tea later on – I mean, that’s the best “weekend” ever!
I’m looking forward to going to Paris next week with my parents… although I’m not quite sure exactly how stressful it’s going to be, it’s a nice change of scenery!
Yes, my weekend is pretty great- although it’s hard to compare to a trip to Paris! I hope it’s fun and hopefully low-stress.
I have shifted my running schedules to run both days on weekends, I love how unrushed I am on those days. I wish I could shift runnign to friday too which i usually work from home, maybe i’ll try that one day. enjoy your free days with cats.
Yes, I’m running both “weekend” days now, and I’m liking that schedule. It’s VERY nice not to be rushed!
I already bought pumpkin spice creamer for my coffee.
I’m looking to Wednesday because I reach live and stop by Starbucks on my way there.
Otherwise not an exciting week.
I’m buying pumpkin spice creamer tomorrow!
Somehow you manage to make every week eventful, with hikes, dinners out and runs with friends. I always feel boring when I read your posts.
The pumpkins and other gourds have come to my local farm market, so I was thinking about you as I looked at them! My own butternut squash are ripening up, they will be ready to pick soon. Harvest (at the vineyard) started yesterday, so it’s an exciting time with everyone bustling around. I’m not QUITE ready to say goodbye to summer, but time marches on!
Well… when I lived up north I never wanted to say goodbye to summer. But we all know how much fun fall is and then the Secret Festive Season!
I am so excited for fall, Jenny! I want to really lean in this year and embrace ALL THE PUMPKIN THINGS.
I am currently at the mechanic (getting a routine oil change) and it’s delightful. My house is full of people and so sitting with my laptop in the waiting room feels like a mini vacation. So I love your plan of getting a tea and making the most of the tire change.
Yes, I know you’re looking forward to fall, and the start of school! I’m smiling at you happily sitting at the mechanic, escaping briefly from the chaos at home.
OTF has a ‘PSL’ workout this week that stands for press, squat, lunge. I will miss it since I’m on vacation at my parents. I used to love PSLs. Now they are overly sweet for me. I do usually drink one in the fall to welcome the fall season.
I’m on vacation this week so I am looking forward to a quiet, relaxing week!!
Ooh! I hope you have an amazing time. And, we can still “spice” up our drinks without all the sugar- I’m going to get some pumpkin spice creamer tomorrow for my tea.
I hope you enjoy the trail run!
I haven’t seen any fall treats in stores yet but that IQ Bar looks really good! I’m hoping Trader Joe’s will have their fall items in soon, but I think they may wait until later in September to do that. I do really like fall snacks even though it’s not gonna feel like fall here until November.
Same. November! But I’ll be pretending for the next couple of months. I think you’re right, TJs fall stuff comes out later in September. Actually I’ll find out when and report back!
Are you going to keep your schedule when you go into fall, or is it just a summer thing? Having two days off in a row is SO nice. Since I started working 4 days a week, I have gotten really spoiled and always want a 3 day weekend. I know your days off are divided, I wish you had 3 in a row. It’s SO nice.
I hope you had a great run!
Thank you Julie! At first this was a summer thing, but I’m liking the schedule so much I’m going to keep it indefinitely. Three days in a row would be nice- but for now I’ll settle for two (and then I have the third day off on Sunday). It’s a good schedule!
Oh, those kitties! They remind me of Piper and Marlowe, and the photo made me smile. Orange cats and grey cats are my absolute favourites, and I was blessed to have one of each at the same time.
You’re very brave to continue trail running after a fall. I’m glad that you literally picked yourself up, brushed yourself off, and started all over again!
