THE MYSTERY IS SOLVED. Yesterday I shared that the writing had disappeared from the bottom outer halves of my planner pages. Karen said “It probably IS due to the heat but not sure why just the edges. Frixion erases from heat. Try popping your planner in the refrigerator/freezer!”
That’s what I did… and the ink reappeared! Isn’t that cool? That is, it would be super cool if I were nine years old. Think of the possibilities… secret notes with disappearing ink! Not quite as cool for an adult who’s trying to get the most out of a planner. As to why it was only PART of the pages that disappeared, Nicole said “I use both the frixion pens and this exact planner. If that part of the planner was in the sun and the rest was in the shade, the sun would have warmed that area more and the ink will disappear.”
That is obviously exactly what happened. Needless to say, I will NOT be using these pens moving forward, or leaving my planner in the car. Thanks to Karen and Nicole (who also suggested putting the planner in the freezer). I never would have thought of that.
This means my May goals have reappeared, but I kind of wish they hadn’t. Could these goals be any less fun?

My Wednesday was really nice. After a run, breakfast, some reading and a couch nap (with cat, obviously) I did a little shoe shopping- well, browsing. I didn’t buy anything…

And then I went to Starbucks for more reading!

I accomplished my goal of reading a whole book- or I should say, I will accomplish it before I go to sleep. I love the feeling of getting in bed with my book, knowing I’m going to finish it.
And now… back to work. Sigh!
What would you do with a Wednesday off- no big chores or appointments?

I hope you find your shoes soon, I know it’s weighing on you. I’m glad that the mystery is solved regarding the planner / pen thing, though I did not expect the freezer to bring the ink back. Amazing.
I had some unexpected free time today, and I went to the nursery and ogled flowers and plants. Time well spent, I think!
I know- I didn’t imagine that the ink could actually come BACK. And- a trip to ogle flowers and plants sounds fun. Back when I used to actually plant things in my yard, I would have enjoyed that.
Yay! I’m glad it came back. And good thinking Nicole.
I might go the beach or Disney on a Wednesday.
You guys nailed it. I’m so glad I brought that mystery to the blog, because I NEVER would have thought to put it in the freezer!!!
what a lovely day, shoe shopping and finish a book. I don’t think I remember finishing a book that is over 100 pages in a page in a long time!
if I have free day by myself: I’ll do a long run, slow breakfast time with reading, long stretching, massage, nap and reading.
Your free day sounds GREAT. I like all those things! Next week I’m hoping to get a massage.
Glad the little mystery was solved! Sorry about the shoes- why can’t it be easy? ( I have very large feet and can never find my size in stock, let alone something pretty.)
A Wednesday off? I’d probably organize my dresser. I don’t think I own a lot of clothes, then I open up the drawers to chaos.
I’m going to have to order shoes, I’m pretty sure. And I have a feeling I’ll be doing lots of returning until I find an acceptable pair. I would rather get them in the store where I can try them on, but it looks like that won’t happen.
Mystery solved! I’m glad you got it figured out. Good luck with the shoes!
Thank you Nicole! I’m going to go with your suggestion and look for Naturalizer shoes- but I’ll have to order them, and then possible (probably) go through the hassle of returning then until I find the right size/fit. I better get started on that!
I’m glad the mystery was solved!!
I have tomorrow off from work but the big to do is the 2nd round of fire exposure therapy… But I have a massage scheduled as a reward and I will also do an OTF class in the morning. I usually make my days off pretty relaxed and don’t give myself a to do list because I need a break from being productive. Phil probably wishes that was not the case. Ha. I do need to organize our window seat shelves but I am going to save that for a day off in the future. For now, getting through the fire exposure therapy is the priority and is very unpleasant so I’m not requiring anything else of myself on my days off until that is behind me!
Ugh, good luck with that. Yes, surround the exposure therapy with pleasant things!!! Since I have every Wednesday off, sometimes they’re filled with chores or apointments- but every once in a while there will be a day with NOTHING, and I love it.
That’s so crazy about the disappearing ink! Good luck with the shoe shopping. There tend to be lots of sales for Memorial Day weekend- maybe you can really try and knock that out this weekend! I think it would feel good to have that off the list.
Okay, it’s settled. I will either buy a pair of shoes this weekend from a store, or order a pair. I HAVE TO get the ball rolling on this!!!
Good luck with the wedding shoe shopping! I just ordered a pair online yesterday because I went to Target over the weekend and they didn’t have any silver sandals for some reason. I did end up buying a pair of brown sandals though just for everyday use haha.
If I had a Wednesday off, I’d probably do my long run! Then I would only have to do a shorter run on Saturday and it would make the weekend feel longer. And the trails would be less busy than on the weekend so it’d be a win win!
Yes- once school is out I’m probably going to start doing longer runs on Wednesdays. I agree, it’s less crowded and also nice not to take up a weekend day.
I’ll probably order shoes online this weekend- I just wish I could try them on in a store, but I can’t find what I’m looking for in any of the stores I’ve tried. Oh well- I can always return them and order more.
That’s so wild that this pen is activated – or deactivated – by heat. Who knew!
I hope you find some shoes soon. I have a very hard time shopping for every day shoes these days… but Nordstrom Rack had some nice sandals recently.
Hmm, I actually haven’t checked Nordstrom Rack! It might be a good place. I know, I never buy shoes any more- only running shoes. Those are easy!!!
Yes- it’s the heat! The “erasers” work by creating heat on the ink. We have this issue with Frixion pens at work sometimes. We like using frixion pens to mark our scores because staging notes are constantly changing. Sometimes when we run our scores through the copier or scanner, the ink disappears and we pop the pages in the Freezer to get the ink to come back. I’m glad I don’t work somewhere so hot that I have to worry about leaving my scores in the car!
This is so weird to me!!! I mean… I get that the heat erases the ink. But then it reappears from being in the freezer??? That’s wild. Yes- don’t leave your scores in the car in the summer!!!
My 7th grade self would have LOVED that pen thing! So fun! Colonoscopy – definitely not fun. Actually, I haven’t had one because I’ve been able to use the box so far. But, my 17 yo had to do one last month when she was in the hospital. The amount of liquid she had to drink was a little disconcerting. But, she did well with it. Hope the same for you!
I usually end up cleaning my house when I have any time off. But, I’m getting ready to be done with teaching this semester and I’m hoping to read in my hammock (which probably needs a good cleaning) and enjoy some local places I have not been able to frequent lately!
Whoa… the whole disappearing ink and reappearing when you put it in the freezer. SCIENCE IS CRAZY. I’m glad you were able to figure out what was going on – you’ve got some smart cookies as readers!
A Wednesday off? I would probably do a lot of reading, catching up on blogs, and taking a nap. Sounds amazing!
