Hey there! This week started with some pretty grim StairMaster workouts, but ended with RUNNING! Hooray! Thanks as always to Kim and Deborah for hosting the Weekly Rundown. When we left off last week, I was nursing a sore hip/hamstring. Let’s just see how the week went…
Sunday
I started the day with a 40 minute walk…

and later on did an arm and shoulder workout.
Monday
45 minutes on the StairMaster…

and later, yoga for low back pain and hip mobility exercises.
Tuesday
a 40 minute walk in the morning…

and then a lower body strength workout- lots of bodyweight exercises, weighted squats, NO lunges (because I’m never doing lunges again). Later I felt so antsy that I got out for a second 40 minute walk.
Wednesday
One hour on the StairMaster! It wasn’t as bad as you might be thinking… well, okay, it was pretty bad.

Later in the day- more yoga and stretching.
Thursday
Enough is enough! Let’s try some running.

3 miles of running/walking. The hamstring felt fine. My hip felt… funny, but not too painful to run. VICTORY.
Later in the day… shoulder workout.
Friday
Another lower body workout of bodyweight only, plus core. I also did some hip exercises I remembered from the last time I did PT.
Saturday
Okay, let’s do this! 4 mile run, and things felt pretty good. My hip just felt very stiff, but got better as the run went on.

Later in the day… more yoga and stretching.
Sunday
On tap… a walk, arm and shoulder workout, hip PT exercises and stretching.
So, what’s the verdict? I think the hip needs some rehab, but I can continue to run while I take care of it. That’s good timing, because next week I’ll be out of town, and won’t have access to a gym (I won’t miss the StairMaster).
ON THAT NOTE… my son’s wedding is SATURDAY. There’s a strong possibility that I won’t do a Weekly Rundown post next Sunday, but I’ll be back the next week with all the wedding details!
How was your week?
What was the last wedding you went to?

Yay for a run! Sounds like you’ve figured out a workable pattern for the hip issue. And have fun at the WEDDING!
Last wedding was my daughter’s celebration- ceremony inside a garden/arboretum thing, reception at tapas restaurant. Lovely day. My sister and I took my younger kids out after a bit so we could go get them pizza. Assorted reasons but my daughter knew and was okay with it.
Safe travels!
It’s the morning after…so I’ll say congrats and wait for all the details!! I hope it all went well!
Woohoo! Yay for the running and the WEDDING!
My PT has me doing a very passive hip flexor stretch where I lay on my back with my body half off the table and dangle my leg off the side — maybe that would feel good for you too.
I can’t remember the last wedding I went to. It’s… been a while. I watched my niece’s wedding on a live stream, does that count?? Sadly, I’ve been to more funerals in recent years than weddings.
OKAY. This is getting sad.
Well, if your big family wedding is in a week, it means I’m exactly 1 week from my 17th wedding anniversary! We’re celebrating this week by sending both kids off to sleepaway camp. My daughter is a leader, my son is a camper and I cannot wait for FIVE NIGHTS with no children in the house. I’d say it’s time to party, but mostly I’m looking forward to silence. That’s my version of partying.
I cannot wait to see pictures and hear all sorts of details about the wedding. Have the BEST time and I’m glad that you’re able to run. Take it slow and steady, but I’m sure it was disregulating to be coming up to something so massive as a wedding and not be able to run for some stress relief and stabilizing.
Hugs, my friend. I am nothing but full of joy as I think about this special wedding <3
Yay wedding week is here! Hope you all have the most fabulous weekend. Can’t wait to hear all about it. Hope you continue to feel good 🙂
