We did it! Sylvie has been spayed, phew. Tuesday was the big day. I had to drop her off at the vet at 9 am, but before that she had to fast, starting at midnight the night before.
On Tuesday morning, Muffin woke us up as always, meowing angrily for breakfast. We put her off as long as we could, but at 6:30 we got up. I closed Sylvie in the bedroom while the other two ate, but to distract her I opened the windows. This hasn’t happened in about three months (our AC is on nonstop) so she was VERY intrigued.
She was so entranced by the outside air, she sat on the windowsill and completely forgot about breakfast. Then Foxy came in, and they were both so excited, they raced around and around the house. I imagine Sylvie’s thought process going something like this: “This is the best day ever! I’m having so much fun! I wonder why- hey, what are you doing… I don’t want to go in there— NOOOOOOO!”
Stuffing her into the carrier was awful, but as my sister said, that’s usually the worst part. Once she was in, she rode silently to the vet, resigned to her fate.
After I dropped her off, I went to my trail for a run! The timing was… not ideal, since I couldn’t start running till 10. This is usually the kiss of death in Florida, in June, but I really wanted to get a trail run in. It was hot, but I was glad I did it!

Sylvie was at the vet all day, and I picked her up around 4. She was a little groggy, but VERY happy to be home!

The next day- Wednesday- she was tearing around the house like a maniac. I had to give her antibiotics, but opted to skip the painkillers- she definitely didn’t seem to need them. The vet gave me a cone just in case, but after the first day, where she gave herself a thorough bath (probably trying to get rid of the vet smell) she hasn’t been licking her wounds much.

After all that excitement, I needed a low-key day on Wednesday. A perfect example of why it’s great to have TWO days off of work- one day to get things done, and one to relax. I did do a couple fun errands. The library:

… and Target, where I got two new additions to my summer drinks rotation. In my last post, Lisa mentioned peach-flavored seltzer. Hmm, that sounded good! I got this:

It’s delicious! And Ashley mentioned LMNT has a new lemonade iced tea… OH REALLY??? I got some but haven’t tried it yet. I’ll report back asap.

And now it’s back to work. Onward!
What’s your high and low of the week so far? – Low: stuffing Sylvie into the cat carrier. High: having her home, safe and sound!
