walkers walk… but runners fly

And In Other News…

I know I said all I can think about is my upcoming race, but there have been a few other things going on! Like- wedding plans are underway!

I’ve been emailing back and forth with my son’s fiancee, Isabel’s,  mom, whose name coincidentally is Jennifer. She seems very fun and slightly offbeat, in the best possible way. When she talked about plans for the reception, she referenced the “dog party” from Go Dog Go.

Sadly there will be no dogs at the reception, but it will still be a fun, joyful event. Jennifer also said she’s planning to wear a “formal-ish” dress, and maybe it would be fun if we could match colors? She’s leaning towards dark green.

Wait. I thought I WASN’T supposed to wear the same color as the bride’s mom? I mean if she wants to I’m fine with it, but I’m not sure if she realizes-being a mere pup of 45-  that I might have some special needs when it comes to dresses. I told her to send me pictures of dresses she’s considering and we’ll go from there. I’m very nervous about this! I’m sure it will work out fine, but it’s going to be a journey for me.

In other news, I had to take Sylvie to the vet AGAIN. How many shots do kittens need? Lots and lots, it turns out. I’m realizing what a bargain it is when you adopt a cat from a rescue organization. I paid $75 for Foxy, and he had all his shots AND had already been fixed. Anyway, Sylvie, like all cats everywhere, does not like going to the vet, but she recovered quickly.

In less stressful news, my daughter’s band played at MPA this week and received straight superior ratings, as we knew they would!

Now she’s on spring break, and we’re both loving it. I can sleep later in the morning, which is perfect leading up to my race. Ha- I knew I could sneak a mention of my race in there somewhere.

That’s about it! We’re looking at a pretty relaxing weekend. What are you up to? Do you have any fun or exciting news from the week? Do you remember the dog party from Go Dog Go?

  1. Sylvie and Foxy so charming! I took my fuzzy cat to the vet- she tried to be invisible and then hid from me at home for having the gall to take her to the vet.
I’m on break with one son. We made 4 batches of honemade ice cream for his birthday. Tomorrow we take my daughter to her state Special Olympic basketball tournament.
Go Dog Go is a book we read with all of my kids- a great early reader. That kind of joyous party makes a great inspiration for a reception!

    Race race race!

  2. I’ve never heard of Go Dog Go, but it’s true that dogs like to party. Or at least the dogs in our family like it when we have social events that they get to come to. 10 years ago our family parties were full of little kids and now they’re full of grownups and dogs. “Other Jenny” sounds like a winner.

I know that it’s no fun to take a cat to the vet, but it got us a very cute kitten picture, so I appreciate Sylvie’s hard work.

Happy Spring Break! Ours was this week.
