July Coffee Date- It’s WEDDING MONTH!!!

Yes, I HAVE ordered this mug- it should arrive any day now and I’ll be drinking out of it for the rest of the month! Three weeks from today I’ll be in Valparaiso, setting things up and getting ready for the rehearsal dinner. The wedding is on the 25th, and from now on all I’ll be thinking is “blah blah blah WEDDING blah blah WEDDING blah WEDDING WEDDING WEDDING!”

Recently I complained that I felt I should be doing more, but that has changed. I talked to my son, who has snapped into “wedding mode.” We need e-vites for the rehearsal dinner! Do we have a head count for that? Has the Airbnb been rented for the groomsmen? Who is picking up his best man from the airport? Etc. etc. I love it. FINALLY, things for me to do!

In other news… huh. Do I have any other news? Sylvie is all recovered from her surgery. She’s getting BIG!

Soon she’ll be as big as Foxy!

I’m reading a great book:

If we were having coffee together, I would ask what you’re doing for the holiday. Right now we have no plans! My daughter will be with her boyfriend and his family. I have Saturday and Sunday off- I’ll probably run, go to the gym, read, nap… if we want to see fireworks, all we have to do is look out the window- everyone in our neighborhood will be shooting them off.

I’m linking up with Coco and Deborah for their Ultimate Coffee Date!

What would you tell me over coffee?

  1. Oh, wedding month! How exciting! Weddings can be so stressful though. But good that you got something to do!
I like your plan of celebrating 4th of July with naps, runs and gym. I’m Swedish living in Ireland but I may end up in a full-on 4th of July celebration, because one of the owners of the pub we’re playing in is American and they have some celebration there, it might even be too crowded for us to play but we’re still going there to see how the situation is. Our music would fit perfectly for the occasion. I’d need a full weekend of rest and relax but we have tons of music stuff going on.

  2. Yay for wedding month! LOL, I am sure there are a lot of little things to do. Maybe it’s a good idea to rest up this weekend. 😉

I’m going to have to check out that book. I’m about to DNS my current read.

We plan to hide from the local fireworks and hope they aren’t too loud for Scooby!

  3. There are definitely a million Little things to do for a wedding! It feels good to be needed and be able to help. Can’t wait to hear more about the big day. Do you have your dress? Happy wedding month!

  4. SYLVIE AND FOXY. They are perfection.

SO EXCITING!! I’m glad your son has been giving you tasks. That will make the time go by faster.

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you glad I am that my work insanity is over and that July is slow and contemplative at work. BUT. I am so upset about the fireworks situation. My neighbors have been shooting them off ALREADY and the dog is so freaked out. We’re literally having to DRAG her on walks because she’s scared of them even in the daylight. This is going to continue for months, especially since it’s supposed to be rainy this weekend, so a lot of people will have purchased fireworks and won’t be able to set them off. I HATE IT FOR MY DOG. And then I would drink my coffee and pretend I’m okay.

  5. Jenny, I am so excited for you to have such a momentous occassion to anticipate and plan toward. Hooray! Weddings are such a delight, and I know you and Paul are close which makes it extra special as his mama.

Can I just say, I WISH I could beam you here for coffee. I would love to meet in person and that would be such a delight. We’re having a heat wave, but you wouldn’t even complain because it’s still probably cooler than Florida.

Over coffee. It’s been a tough week. So much hard stuff happening to people we care about. It feels odd to keep doing life things (kids have to get to camp, playdates, and everyone still needs to eat) and living in this bizarre time vortex (I’m not quite sure what to do with myself, though there’s a funeral to attend today and that will bring some closure, in its own way). So I’m very discombobulated by trying to lean into the good things that pop up. I’m so fortunate in so many ways and sitting down to make a list of those really does help when I get stuck in my head.

    LOVE THE MUG!!!
