walkers walk… but runners fly

What Are You Into (Copycat Post!)

Yesterday SHU shared a list of things she’s “into”, inspired by Jodi Wellman’s newsletter prompt. I thought, “there’s a great Friday post for me!” And YOU’RE probably thinking, “Good grief! Are we going to hear about cats, football, books, and Earl Grey tea AGAIN???” Fear not- I’ve tried to compile a list of things I don’t talk about all the time (or at least… I’ll try to talk about some of these in a different way).

SCENTS

Yes. I’ve definitely mentioned this- but I’m very into scented candles and soaps, especially this time of year. I used up the rest of my Bath and Bodyworks gift card to get these:

I LOVE lighting fall scented candles, and every time I wash my hands I take an extra moment to smell the soap.

CHOCOLATE

When I did my anti-candida diet over the summer, I couldn’t have any chocolate and that was just sad. I just recently bought this again:

Choc Zero

It’s vegan and sugar free, sweetened with monk fruit, and it actually tastes good. Ah chocolate, how I missed you.

TEA

Okay, okay. I AM going to talk about Earl Grey. This is the tea I had at a coffeeshop in Waco, and it was so good I asked them what the brand was. It was Rishi tea, and I ordered some of it to have at home. It has a nice amount of bergamot flavor and aroma, and I’m enjoying it very much! (They have a regular and a “supreme” version- both delicious!)

PAJAMAS

Yes, I may have shown a few photos of my pajamas lately. But I don’t think I’ve ever talked about my pajama routine, which is that as soon as I get home from work, I put on pajamas. I want to be as comfortable as possible while I’m at home. This means I have “daytime pajamas” and “nighttime pajamas.”

Snuggling with Muffin in my one of my daytime pajama pants.

My daytime pajamas are worn any time during the day while I’m at home, and then when it’s bedtime I change into my nighttime pajamas. My daughter says this is the stupidest thing she’s ever heard of, but it makes perfect sense to me.

ROBERT GALBRAITH/ J.K. ROWLING

I’m not sure the point of the pseudonym since everyone knows Robert Galbraith is J.K. Rowling. She is my favorite author of all time, and while nothing can compare with Harry Potter, I love the Cormoran Strike mystery series.

I’m saving The Hallmarked Man for November, and every time I see it on my shelf I get excited. I’m ignoring the fact that Engie said it’s BORING! No, I refuse to believe it! I’ll report back in November.

NAPS

I love, love, love naps! Here’s one of my favorite napping moments lately:

Does it get any better than this???

What are you into right now?

  1. I’m cracking up at your “daytime vs. night time pyjamas” system — that’s pure genius, not stupid at all!
I have a similar setup: when I’m at home, I live in my jogging tights and a soft top, and then when I go out, I change into “civil” clothes like jeans and a proper shirt. I move better, think better, am better in soft fabrics!

Do your daytime pyjamas ever make it out of the house, or is that a strict boundary?

    1. Ha! Well… I often wear my daytime pajamas out if I’m going to pick my daughter up somewhere and know I won’t be getting out of the car. This backfired a couple years ago when the car broke down and I had to call for a battery jump- then I wished I weren’t wearing pajamas, ha ha.

  2. oh i love this last pic! so sweet!
i love changing to comfy clothes when i get home too. i usually change to bed time pj right away if i don”t go out again, if not, i’d use running attire.

    1. My running attire isn’t comfortable enough to sub for pajamas! I saw Catrina mentioned she wears leggins at home- I don’t like anything tight though. I’m obviously very picky!

  3. I’m into sleeping with my cats too- the cooler weather means they seek us out to keep them warm at night. My girl cat will come up around 8:30 and meow at me to remind me it’s time to get to bed. And if I move to the couch at night due to insomnia, she’ll follow and settle in on top of me. Not always comfortable but lovely.

    1. YES! Sleeping with cats is the best- there’s something really soothing about it. That’s so, so cute your cat will remind you when it’s time for bed.

  4. I don’t want to call anyone out, but someone in your house is incorrect about daytime and nighttime pajamas. She just doesn’t know yet.

My iist includes morning coffee while reading blogs and watching Doggo going to town on her chew toy.

    1. Morning coffee (or, tea in my case) is definitely something I’m into, and as a matter of fact I’m doing it right now. I won’t tell my daughter you said she’s wrong, but I’ll definitely be thinking it from now on.

  5. I also really love scented soaps and candles from Bath & Body Works! Especially this time of year, the fall & holiday scents are so cozy.

I usually don’t get to take naps but this week I was able to work from home since it was fall break in the school district I work for, and I’ve taken a short midday nap every day so far. It’s been so nice to take a break and then I feel more refreshed for the rest of the work day!

    1. Too bad you can only nap when you work from home! I guess a little cot at your workplace isn’t an option, ha ha.
Yes- I always try to find scented non-holiday candles and they’re disappointing. Fall and Christmas scents are the best.

  6. Oh that picture of your kitty nap is perfection. She’s right there, cuddled up. I used to have a secret Sunday morning ritual, back when my husband slept in more. I would come downstairs, feed Mulder, put him out to do his business, and then I would lie down on the sofa with a blanket, and he would jump up and we would cuddle and watch Meet the Press. He would get into the crook behind my knees and put his head where I could pet him and it was so, so nice. Why Meet the Press? I have no idea. It felt important until I realized it wasn’t. Why was this ritual secret? Because Mulder was not allowed on the furniture, so it was a special treat. Sigh.

Um, why the heck would anyone wear their daytime PJs to bed? That’s just wrong. Bedtime PJs need to be fresh.

    1. Yes Julie, you understand perfectly! And… that’s such a sweet story about cuddling with Mulder. You must miss that : (

  7. Your pajama system is part of my life goals. I LOVE getting into “comfy” clothes as I call them. One of my only highlights of winter is the excuse to get into stretchy PJs EARLY in the day. It’s dark outside, ergo it’s PJ time.

  8. What a fun post! I love hearing what other people are into. I am definitely into PJs and naps (when I have time!). I wish I had a cat on my lab to cuddle with.
